How to mix up prints without looking like you dressed in the dark

Mixing and matching prints can be intimidating. Do it right, and you're a risktaker! With such fashion sense! However, do it wrong, and you'll look like you lost a bet. Fortunately, we found three tips at SheFinds.com that will help you mix up prints in style!

Get mixed up with these prints

  • Big and little polka dots
  • Totally unexpected
  • Use your accessories
  • Be bold
  • Same colors + Multiple patterns = AWESOME
  • Seek similar colors. If your top is striped with yellow and white, find a floral print scarf that contains yellow and white (and some other colors, too). Keeping some sort of consistancy keeps the outfit looking put-together.
  • Pick prints that are somewhat alike, but different sizes. Think big polka dots and small dots. The big pattern should be fairly bold, but keep the small one itty-bitty.
  • When in doubt, go for black and white. These colors are so basic that they make any pattern they're in seem closer to a neutral than that same pattern would with bright colors. So, if you have a dress with just a little black and white in it, but mostly it's a bright paisley, try a black and white print sweater with it.

  • The Tribal Trend Carries Over from Fall to Spring The Tribal Trend Carries Over from Fall to Spring Play One of our favorite Fall trends is carrying over to Spring - tribal looks. Safari-inspired pieces graced the runways at Michael Kors, Donna Karan, and Diane von Furstenberg, as designers played with mixed prints, raw textures, and vibrant hues. From head-to-toe animal prints at Michael Kors to warrior-like tribal dresses at Herve Leger, we can't wait to get our safari on for Spring.

We love the idea of making a simple silhouette fresh and modern by opting for one in a cool, textured print. A silvery, mixed-materials frock is a festive alternative to your go-to red party dress and is also perfect for watching the ball drop on New Year's Eve. Take a look at Rachel McAdams's perfect party look!
