TuneStyle: Sparklehorse
So why should we be excited about the onset of September?
The onset of cooler temps? The opportunity to put away all our summer whites until Memorial Day 2007? Well, I suppose.
But more than anything else, we should embrace September as the month that Dreamt For Light Years In The Belly Of A Mountain, the new album by Sparklehorse, is released.
Faux rock group Sparklehorse is a man named Mark Linkous who lives in Bremo Bluff, Virginia. Like Stevie Wonder, Linkous conceives, produces and performs every facet of his albums, song by song and instrument by instrument.
His breakout album It's A Wonderful Life of 2001, is nothing shy of luminous. Linkous's guest artists on that album include TuneStyle favorites P.J. Harvey and Tom Waits. In the interim since the release of the album, Sparklehorse's released a few tracks for the David Lynch cult movie favorite Laurel Canyon .
In short, Sparklehorse is the greatest, most stylish faux band you've never heard of. But that can change come September.
