On location ATL: Chastain Park Amphitheatre
There's not a better time or place for a concert -- a time when the sun sets over the trees in the horizon bringing the first hints of fall coolness, and a place where you can BYOB. Last night I ventured to Chastain Park Amphitheatre in Atlanta to see Collective Soul in concert. Now, given that they aren't my favorite band (and I haven't heard anything new from them in years), I went for the spectacular atmosphere of the venue.
Chastain welcomes you to bring food & beverages (yes, alcohol is allowed) and all the other necessities for a nice dinner. This is in the heart of Atlanta where style is one of those necessities. As I looked around, couples all around me were armed with tablecloths, candles, gourmet food, and expensive wine, all while sporting high-class attire.
Sure, they didn't know who the band was. And sure, they didn't really listen to the music -- but darn it, they looked good doing it. Despite the fact that I was less prepared than these folks, I still enjoyed myself with a cooler full of sandwiches and cheap wine.
So before it gets too cold, get out to any outdoor concert and enjoy the atmosphere, but try to be stylish about it.
