In an era of email, it seems somewhat absurd to get excited about postage stamps. But as someone who occasionally sends thank-you notes, I do try to retain a little bit of enthusiasm for new developments in the commemorative postage stamp arena. Over in the UK, a Royal Mail spokesman just announced a new series of Beatles stamps set to go on sale in 2007. The postage stamps will feature six of the band's most memorable album covers.
While I might not get the chance to mail a letter using Beatles postage anytime soon, I have to say that a Sgt. Pepper stamp sure beats one of those fat Elvis stamps that the USPS issued a few years back.
