Model down at Proenza Schouler

Falling down on the runway is every model's worst nightmare. No matter how adept you are at walking in four-inch heels, runway accidents can happen. Now it hasn't even happened to me -- knock on wood -- but it did happen to poor Elise Crombez during last week's Proenza Schouler show.

From the photographs, it's hard to tell what happened with the Belgian gamine. My guess is that the silk socks caused her foot to pop right out of the black platform shoes. Regardless of the "why," you have to feel sorry for the poor girl. Proenza Schouler is a hugely popular label, so you can pretty much assume that anyone who is of any consequence in the fashion industry saw her tumble. Call me a cynic, but I have feeling that Elise is going to have a hard time living this one down. I'll be interested to see if she is back on the catwalk in February.

  • How to Walk Like a Runway Model How to Walk Like a Runway Model Play Fashion models make it look so effortless, but strutting your stuff in 4-inch heels is no easy feat. Models walk in different ways, and the style of walking will depend on the clothes being modelled and the general tone of the show. However, these are some general tips on walking like a catwalk model. When learning these techniques, make sure you're wearing comfortable clothes and have a long enough room to stride up and down in.

Im pretty sure everyone has fallen over there own feet in thier life.
I think for the most part this is a very easy job if you can make loads of money and all you have to do is walk and turn.
I certainly hope this doesnt cost this girl her job just because she happen to trip in those crazy things that women call shoes.

I WEAR CLARKS BEST CLOGS AND TRIP ALL OF THE TIME. I CATCH MYSELF DRAGGING MY FEET INSTEAD OF PICKING THEM UP. I NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER WEAR HEELS UNLESS THEY ARE ATTACHED TO A CLOG OR A BIRKENSTOCK ETC ETC. I CAN'T STAND ALL DAY IN THOSE HORRID HILLS...I CAN'T TEACH IF MY FEET ARE HURTING...I CAN'T RUN AFTER THE STUDENTS IF MY FEET ARE HURTING...I CAN'T WALK...STAND...RUN...LIVE...IF MY FEET ARE CLINCHED IN THOSE POINTED HIGH HEEL SHOES. I GUESS THEY ARE REALLY GOOD FOR KICKING THE HUSBAND FROM TIME TO TIME...BUT NO MORE! I HAVE MY OWN CLOTHING COMPANY CALLED "ME BE ME"..IF YOU WANT TO SEE MY LINE OF CLOTHES..WAIT A COUPLE OF MORE MONTHS!

I have always wondered how do the models walk in the shoes they have to wear too big? Look at her shoes their too big for her feet; so it flopped off causing her to trip & fall...

I am sure we have all made mistakes or had accidents at the most inopportune times....so she had an accident ....lets be thankful she wasn't hurt....since when do models have to be perfect....do I detect some jealousy from those who did not have the makings of a model and now have something to gloat about....Elsie good luck to you and your future endeavours in the modeling world.

Everyone slips from time to time. A new sensation named Naomi Campbell did the same some years ago, and she continued on with her career successfully. Let's hope it will be the same for Elise Crombez. While she wasn't perfect, who is? What matters is all in how we pick ourselves up and keep going.

Well Elise had better be on the catwalk in Feb. If she isn't there just because she fell then that is more to add to the problem the public has about models. And Elise if it isn't your friends laughing with you to make you feel better, then it is the ones who see you as a threat to them. So do not let it bother you.

I am surprised that this would be something to even bring back up. I'm sure the woman is devastated enough without it being on the internet. I'm sure her career speaks for itself, one little mishap will not bring her down. However, her peers may.

To show that you are mature and a true professional is to pick yourself up from a fall, runway or not. No one is perfect. If anyone remembers the episode in HBO's highly successful Series, "Sex and the City" Carrie Bradshaw (played by actress, Sarah Jessica Parker) had to walk down the runway and she fell down and she picked herself right back up and continued on. We encourage our children when they fall to get right back up and brush themselves off. The same goes for anyone who has fallen and got right back up runway or not. After all, who can say that they have never fallen?

Call me couture-challenged, but prior to this poor young woman's fall, I'd never even heard of Proenza Schouler {gasp}.
Now I have. No such thing as bad press. I hope she's OK; she's human, after all. After the wound has healed, she'll have a certain charm and may even use it to further her career.
Who wears socks with high heels anyway? Fashion and safety--now that's just an accident waiting to happen.

At least she fell gracefully, as a model should. Elise, there is not a human being on the face of this Earth who has not had an embarrasing moment. Just remember to pick yourself up and go to the next venue with your head held high. You will do great. In years to come, you will look back at this and have a good laugh with your family and friends. Trust me. I speak from experience.

i think she should just get back on with her job, look at naomi campbell n kate moss, paris n so many others that have worst things happened, now that is embarrasing, i be more embarrased to show my face after all that they do, than from one fall, ok laugh at it n move on, why would this ruin her career? at least now she is known world wide for whtever reason, when before she wasnt, i think she shouldnt worry about this it will have a laugh n then people wont care about it,

More than likely, her fall was from a combination of the silk socks, too large shoes, and that stupid runway-model walk (where their legs have to unaturally criss-cross as they walk).

SHE WAS PROBABLY HUNGRY!!! Models are too small and do not represent the average size of women in the world. Someone probably opened a door and the breeze was simply too much for her 50lb body to handle.
