"Your momma wears combat boots!" was how kids used to insult each other back in my playground days. Suddenly, though, I may find myself in the situation where someone says to me "Your Senator wears combat boots!"That's right, here in Virginia, our Senate race is in many ways a race between boot choice. On the one side is incumbent George Allen (the Republican) who wears cowboy boots ... despite the fact that there are no cowboys in Virginia. On the other side is Democrat Jim Webb, who has chosen to wear his son's old combat boots on the campaign trail (Webb's son is currently serving in Iraq).
The two men debated last Sunday on Meet the Press. And while the two candidates were going head-to-head, their boots, in turn, went toe-to-toe.
