Bebe gets a new gal

Model/actress/ex-paramour-of-Uncle-Jesse, Rebecca Romijn just signed a year-long contract to be the advertising face of the clothing line Bebe. For the last two years, this job had been held by every designer's darling, Mischa Barton. Mischa, I'm sure, has moved on to bigger and better things. It's actually surprising to me that Bebe has decided to go with Romijn instead of another under-21 Hollywood starlet. For a company that has built an empire around the "little black clubbing dress", Rebecca hails from a much more mature demographic. But that could be a good thing in the long run. After all, as someone who has completely written off Bebe as "tarty teen wear", a new, older face might actually make me give Bebe a second chance.

That's ridiculous! Bebe is not "tarty teen wear". Some of it might be too flashy for everyday. But, the tee shirts, blouses, jeans and the sports wear are very nice. The quality is excellent. Their clothes last forever.
I also like that Bebe is now using Rebecca. I feel that most women I see are around her age that wear Bebe. I don't typically see teens wearing it. It's usually the 30+ here.

bebe is a very well loved line in Europe, especially Italy. Perhaps it is because young women begin dressing fashionably well before most young women in the USA. And I do not mean dressing a 12 yr old up like the Ashley Twins, the girls in Europe show class and sophistication. All the USA has for 12yr olds to lookup to and want to dress like are sub talents like Britney Spears and Beyonce. Total hooker looks! It would be very nice for young women in the US to look up to someone like RR for some class and style!

Not as many teens wear them because of the price - not all parents will pay for that bling on clothing. I love their tees, but as a 46 year old, wearing a size 10, even their large tees are tight. After one washing, they are too tight for me to be comfortable. If they want to expand their market, as it appears with their new "face", they need to provide sizing that fits the demographic they long to embrace.

Bebe is clearly for the younger set. While I might find some of it cute, I am in my early 40s (though am told I look like I'm in my early 30s) and I know I have no business wearing 99% of what is in that store just because it fits me. An item might be trendy and cute, doesn't that mean everyone can -- or should -- wear it.

I agree...if they want to reach the demographic gals that can afford their prices, they need to alter the sizes a little larger. The under 21 group isn't their market, and the baby waif models they were using turn away potential consumers with $$$. I think using a 30 something model is a smart move and will bring in new business. They definitely were targeting the wrong audience with their previous models and prices!

i agree on the bigger sizes....their clothes are really cute, but sooo tiny. A lot of their active wear is so nice and would be perfect for moms running errands and picking the kids up from school who still want to look stylish be comfortable. BUT they run way too small. I have some of their accessories and bags, but my 8 year old daughter has a better chance of fitting in their pants.

REBECCA IS BEAUTIFUL. SHE IS A FRESH FACE FOR SUCH A CUTE LINE OF CLOTHES.....THEY ARE REALLY SAMLL, BUT VERY FLASHY. GET THE SIZES UP SOME......I DONT WEAR THEM, HOWEVER MY 24 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER DOES. SHE LOOKS BEAUTIFUL IN THEM...THEY FIT GREAT...SHE DOESNT HAVE A LOT BECAUSE OF THE PRICE, BUT THEY ARE REALLY CUTE. YOU DONT NEED A CLOSET FULL OF THEM. JUST SOME GOOD ONES TO GO OUT IN. THEY ALWAYS LOOK FRESH AND NEW. LOOK GREAT WITH JEANS OR DRESS PANTS...I AM HAPPY THEY HAVE BEAUTIFUL REBECCA TO ENDORSE THEIR PRODUCT. THE OLD ONE WHOEVER SHE WAS, I GUESS MUST MOVE ON. WHATEVER THAT MEANS.................I CAN SEE REBECCA HAS A VERY FRESH FACE AND ATTITUDE. MORE OF A HEALTHY LOOK FOR THE MAJORITY OF WOMEN IN THIS CRAZY WORLD OF OURS......WE CAN BE HAPPY WITH ONE OR TWO WONDERFUL T'S, ENJOY THE ONES YOU GET...WE ACTUALLY GET OURS IN THE OUTLET MALLS IN CALIFORNIA.. A GREAT ROLE MODEL FOR YOUNG GALS. SOMEONE PRETTY AND CLEAN TO LOOK UP TO...WE NEED MORE BEAUTIFUL ROLE MODELS................SIMPLE, CLEAN AND SAFE.........

I shop a lot at BEBE's and I am in my mid 30's. Most of the people I see in there are in the same age range, not teeny boppers. Besides the clothes cost a little more than what I think parents would spend on their teenagers, unless its for a special occaasion outfit. I'm glad Rebecca is taking over from Mischa Barton, I didn't really care for her as the face of BEBE....

Rebbie has proven that age brings beauty. She is the zenith of faces. Everyone in the industry loves her and her special look. Remember it's all about branding and market segment. It's not personal, just good business sense.
