Samora's spring collection, fashion goes romantic

10/19/2006 4:01PM by Deidre Woollard

Immediately after the Samora show at LA Fashion Week, I was chatting with a woman in the interminable line for the horrible portable toliets. The woman, carrying a lovely YSL Muse bag, wanted to know where Samora was sold. I understood completely. It was the kind of show that almost every item could walk right off the runway and into your life. No strange fashiony flourishes or nipple-baring designs here, just simple, wearable daytime outfits that call out for a spring day. The ladylike trend is alive and well in Samora's looks for next spring, delicate and simple dresses were worn with lace gloves and hair done in a loosely romantic twists.

The tones in the line of dresses were muted and soft, getting their punch from the details: eyelet, ruffles and puffed sleeves that make these clothes sweet, sweet candy for those looking to proclaim girliness to the world. While other shows I have seen this week preferred to let the middle disappear under a flowing baby doll dress or a an empire waist, this group of designs highlighted the waistline with soft belting. They make an excellent incentive to step away from the table this holiday season.
