If you aren't a diligent tabloid reader, you might have missed the recent photographs of Tyra Banks in which she appeared to have gained about 30 pounds. Well, after furiously firing off about the accusations, Tyra has changed her plan of attack. Rather than continuing down the road of defensive denial, Tyra has spoken out about her recent weight gain in an interview with People Magazine.
In the full interview, the talk show host admits that she has put on more in the past year and that she is, by no means, as svelte as she was when she was modeling. But she seems to be handling the changes with grace. She says, "I've made millions of dollars with the body I have, so where's the pain in that? If I was in pain, I would have dieted. The pain is not there – the pain is someone printing a picture of me and saying those (horrible) things."
The truth is that the extra weight seems to very good for her career. With her talk show going into its second season and Top Model having such strong ratings, Tyra, the media mogul, is at the top of her game even if her model shelf-life has expired. If anything, the extra weight probably adds to her wide spread appeal. So bravo to Tyra for once again reminding that she is so much more than the size of her waist.
