A few months ago, Anne mentioned the Imelda Marcos jewelry collection. I was curious to see the works that Imelda has created. The wait is over, the Imelda Collection website has launched. The jewelry is made up of one-of-a-kind pieces that Imelda herself has created out of her collection of beads. The jewelry recently was displayed in Los Angeles. Somehow my invite was lost in the mail but you can see pictures on her website. According to the Philippine News, the prices range from $140 for a brooch to over $305 for the necklaces. Pretty pricey for neclkaces that look like swap meet specials.Perhaps even more interesting than Imelda's wacky creations is the text on her website. A sample quote from Imelda: "You don't have to be rich to be beautiful. Sometimes I have been rich. Sometimes I haven't. But there is still beauty out there. It may cost you the earth, it may be quite cheap, but in nature, it might even be free!" This explains a lot.
