Madonna puts the kibosh on Lourdes' closet

Never in a million years did I ever think I'd hear Madonna say that someone is dressed too provocatively. But she's done it just the same, only the offending party isn't who you'd expect; it's not Britney or Paris or The Pussycat Dolls, it's her own daughter, Lourdes.

The Material Girl, who once posed nude for her "Sex" book, told British Elle that she and Lourdes are in the midst of a stand-off over the 10-year-old's choice in dress. Madonna claims Lourdes dresses way too provocatively, especially when it comes to her tight blue jeans. Madge is quoted as saying, "I have a go at her and say, 'Can't you wear something else? You have a closet full of clothes and you wear the same pants every day . . . And please wear a belt because I don't want to see your butt crack when you bend over."

This is just too ironic, isn't it? I'm sure all those mothers who objected their daughters mimicking Madonna's racy style back in the 1980s are having a big old laugh over this one.

Everyone has skeletons in their closets and the last thing parents want is their own children do follow in the same foot steps. Hey, she could be one of those Hollywood moms who lets their daughters make sex tapes, party, and do all sorts of drugs.

SHE HAS THE RIGHT AS A MOTHER! LOURDES IS ONLY 10 YEARS OLD. IF SHE DID NOT TELL HER HOW TO DRESS, YOU WOULD HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY ABOUT THAT

Almost all 10 year old children are like this child. My daughter is 9 and I say the same to her, 'find a belt and are those the only pair of jeans you own?' It is like a rite of passage for little preteens to find their own style. Pick your battles. Alsom yes, I would have expected Madonna to say something about her 10 year old wearing what she might think is provacative because she is a mother. What an adult does is WAY different than what a child should be doing. Madonna is right on this one and being very responsible. Although, the stand-off should stop, Lourdes is 10 and needs to find what she likes, as long as it isn't showing anything, leave her be.

I always knew this would happen. Serves her right. It disgusted me when young girls were showing off their bras in loose and low hanging shirts and wearing coursetts as tops.

What did she think was going to happen? She prances around in media outings and in her videos like a whore.

I always felt bad for Lourdes even though she can buy and sell everyone that is going to comment. She is going to be screwed up.

I don't believe that she really cares about her daughter dressing too provcatively. I think it's just another comment made to get publicity.

Madonna being my inspiration for years and years is a mother and her daughter is only ten. She has the right to dicipline her in her clothing and actions. Ten is a bit young but all mothers go thru it. Just because she's Madonna's daughter doesn't mean she is different from any other ten year old girl. Madonna, I love you, keep up the good work!

Madonna was an adult when she was dressing provocativly, she was not ten years old. She was old enough to understand the consequenses of her own actions. She is now being an attentive mother by addressing her daughters lack of modesty and she should be applauded for that, not condemned. Too bad more parents were not as concerned about how their young daughters are dressed! There would be alot fewer child rapes in our country if we taught our kids more self respect and taught our daughters to stop being a tease for the sexual preditors!

Madonna had no problem dressing provactively when she was first starting out and her fans were predominantly 10 year olds to young teens. She is being very hypocritical. I remember parents being in arms about what she was showing/doing. She had no problem making money off of others 10 year old daughters. Now it seems she is a bit more in the real world, and as they say what goes around comes around. Hope Lourdes is a chip off the old block as they say.

COME ON!!! WHAT PARENT HASNT DONE THINGS OR THOUGHT THINGS WHEN THEY WERE YOUNGER THAT THEY WOULD NOT WANT THEIR CHILDREN TO DO?? I KNOW I HAVE. I THOUGHT MY MOM WAS SO OLD FASHIONED BUT NOW THAT I'M OLDER I REALIZE HOW SMART SHE REALLY WAS. MY PARENTING FOR MY NOW GROWN CHILDREN WAS VERY SIMILAR TO HERS. I REALIZE WHAT I WANTED TO DO WAS NOT OK JUST IN TIME TO TEACH IT TO MY CHILDREN. I DON'T WANT THEM TO DO MOST OF THE THINGS I DID. GUESS WHAT I TURNED OUT OK, AND SO HAVE MY CHILDREN. I'M SURE THEY WILL BE THE SAME WAY

Who are you kidding Madonna?
You are the ultimate hypocrite.
Try walking the walk if that's what you want for your daughter.
Remember the cone bra you wore?
Did you think our daughters would benefit from that look?
Shame on you... The kiss with Britney was also disgusting.

I agree, Madonna - I don't want to 10 year old butt cracks either. Actually - don't really want to see anyone's butt crack winking at me over the waist band - regardless of age.

Madonna wasn't 10 years old trying to dress like a hoochie! Madonna was in her 20's! I remember Idolizing her and my mother told me, she is an adult, you are not! You are going to dress like a decent 11 yr. old girl! My mother monitored what I wore, and If I tried to push to much, She took the tight jeans, or whatever it was away from me!
And now that I am a mother of a 9 yr. old girl, I understand exactly!
Madonna isn't doing anything that a decent Mother wouldn't do! When her daughter is an adult, I'm sure at that point she will figure the girl needs to make her own choices. But for now, her daughter is a child, and she wants her to to look like a child....Not a cheap, teenager or mini adult!!!

This comment is directed to tina. I am disgusted by your comment about child rapes being brought on by the way children are dressed. The mentality of anyone who could look at a child and be aroused has nothing to do with the clothes that child has on and to suggest so is almost as repulsive. I suppose by that kind of thinking a child that is kidnapped by someone telling them that they have lost their puppy, that child is asking for it too.
