Maybe it's that I went to Baby Shower yesterday and the only thing I saw on the 30 girls who were there was jersey dresses in every color of the rainbow. The dress is made of 100% woven fabric, not the stretchy, very figure hugging jersey material that is everywhere. The only "knit" part of the dress is at the waistband, and I am all for knit (i.e. elasticized in some way) waistbands. The dress has a drop waist and falls to a very respectable just-above-the-knee length. Wear it with a cute pair of platform espadrilles to go to brunch with the parents-in-law, or dress it down with flats and you're off to run a few errands about town.
