Lindsay Lohan to open to fashion bar

Apparently irony is not lost on Lindsay Lohan -- the girl who won't be legal to drink until July, who just got out of rehab after one too many drunken mishaps -- as she'll be hosting the opening a new NYC bar next week.

Runway, the bar that shares a name with the magazine in The Devil Wears Prada, is set to open on April 12th.

NY Magazine is non-plussed about the new fashioned-themed hangout (not surprisingly), which features a 25-foot catwalk in the center of the club: "after the first couple of times someone reenacts the Zoolander walk-off, it's not going to be funny anymore, no matter how many $10 Chinatown Cosmos are going around." But they are excited that Lohan's hosting the event, even if it's just to see if she "mows down another photographer outside of the place."

Because let's be honest, Lindsay Lohan and the new bar only have one thing in common, and it isn't fashion.

Ugh...LUSH. How is it possible that someone who is not even TECHNICALLY allowed in a bar, can host its opening? And, really, why would ANYONE want an underage insane alcoholic with a bad rep hosting their event? She's one of the LAST people I'd pick for the job!

It is so easy for people to pass judgement on others, esp. stars!. I really don't believe I am the ONLY person in the U.S.A. who ever got drunk underage. We ALL make mistakes, that's how we learn. If drinking wasn't made to be so taboo 'kids' wouldn't over indulge so much. Som might NOT at all. It would be very idealistic and simplistic to think underage drinking would EVER stop. Let's face it, the best deterrant it probably the 'hangover!' Am I encouraging Lindsay, Britney, your kids, or MY kids to do so? hardly. 'Stars' as role models in general is 'passing the buck' from parents responsibilities! let's All 'wake up'! C'mon people quit judging, let GOD be the judge. Have forgiveness for others. (NOT just Americans.) Lindsay, Britney or anybody that might read this please remember until YOU decide to 'control your life' NO amount of rehab will do so. Learn when to say 'enough'. I've been there, I know. Willpower that is the ONLY answer! To everybody I pi$$ed off with this commentary grow up, get over it , and let's not be judges. Let's be friends, family and willing to help and support. thank you!

funny stuff indeed! Who will be the "in crowd"....grrrrrrrr....Like any self-respecting New Yorker is going to be caught dead in this place....Stop the proliferation of "dishy stuff pop tarts do...or don't do" and we'll look a whole lot saner to the rest of the world!

You have got to be kidding? I'm no expert on NA or AA. But, I'm pretty sure that "opening bars" is not part of Recovery!!!

It's sad......

Once again , the good ol' AOL HOMEPAGE lied to us about the real content of this story. Lindsay didn't actually "open a bar," and I'm finding AOL's dishonest behavior to be more and more tabloidish every day.

Who on God's Earth is this girl? All I hear is this "Lindsay Lohan is doing this, or Lindsay Lohan is doing that". Is she a model/actress/singer??? It's just an easy name to roll off ones tongue perhaps? I mean I am serious.
It's like she is a prop..a Barbie doll who the publicity hungry networks/cable company/news print medias just keep pumping rumors or whatever photos they can get their hands on, and I am sure that her publicists hand them out regularly. I am not sure what talent she possesses except to be drunk or seen being going into rehab or something that can be flashed on the screen on ET. She has wonderful agents, who can manage to keep her in the public eye without performing or singing or doing a damn thing except drinking and partying.

Amazing America is.

um i don't think it's totally Lindsy's fault.... look at the people she hangs around with..... they are far from being model citizens.... ever hear of peer pressure? she had her week moments, lets hope she is a stronger woman now and can make her own choices and stick to them, especially when it comes to who her friends are.

If the best deterrant to drinking was the hangover, no one would ever get drunk the second time, and we wouldn't have so many alcoholic's in the world. I've watched many alcoholic's relapse because they didn't use good sense by staying away from situations they knew could be detrimental to their sobriety. Hanging out in a bar is one of them.

I agree with Gary's comment that a great deal of people drank when they were under 21. The question that I have is why do these bars knowingly turn a blind eye to letting in under 21 celebs and letting them
drink? Why don't the authorities go in and stop this type of thing from
happening? Bars used to check id's and discourage minors from drinking.
If they got caught with minors in the bar, they were fined or shut down.
The minors were arrested and given fines and probation. Why is it different for celebs? Just a question from a member of the gallery.

Gary on #7 and others--of course we did minor age drinking, but I think the big difference is--we hid it. I don't remember any of my friends or I announcing it to my parents nor any kind of media nor even want our pictures taken if we were at a party. When you make millions of dollars because kids are buying what you wear, movies you are in, records you make---then publicly act like that---I think you are passing the buck--from my son to your own Hollywood pocket. These people are all shoved in our faces constantly by the media. I have a child and I cannot stand what he see on tv and hears on the radio or even what I am sure is being said in the schoolyard. I am one parent against a hurricane that I fight daily. As far as the stars---I don't know if they admit to wanting to be role models or not, but they are--especially showing up at the Nik Awards, for one, and making bad examples to be viewed. I think you are wrong, Gary. I am sure in history there have been many people you would want your child to emulate, that are positive and they were that way on purpose. This is the other end of that spectrum.

Maybe she's not an alcoholic. Maybe she's just a silly 20-year-old girl with a lot of eyes watching her.

I agree with the #4 comment: some of you really gotta grow up. Lindsay Lohan is going to be 21 in 3 friggin months. She's always seen in clubs banged up out of her mind and she has the money to do it. Like when any of you were 19 you didn't drink Lambrusco in the back seat of your boyfriends car before you went down on each other. Gimme a break! You a-holes feel so bad about it then write to Hugh Hefner and he'll give you his most respectable opinion after his morning jacuzzi and body rub. But don't come in here making Lohan or any 20 year old seem like a waste to society. She's getting paid to be there as a celebrity guest she's not there to crash the place. That's what clubs like Cane and 40/40 is for. Get a life and ask your daughter what color bracelet she's wearing to school.

I don't understand why the Police departments and Liquor Control Boards in these locations don't crack down on this most obvious illegal activity of drinking underage and of bars serving minors. When I was 18, I got arrested once just for playing pool in a PA bar, when you had to be 21 just to be IN a bar without a parent.
Why do the authorities allow these kids and bars to FLAUNT this illegal activity?

#8 starfeg I think you have to understand is that these young "role models" as you call them are pretty much in shock. Their whole life is flying right before their eyes. Think back to when you were 17 and honestly ask yourself what would you do if you were worth 10 million bux. Unless you're born into royalty, when you're rich and famous by 17 there's no way in the world you're going to stay home and watch the news at 10. You want to PARRRTAYYY. Now whose fault is it really that we know about Lindsay's life? Why is it that we know about her underage drinking? Does she advertise commercials for bud light? See her on magazines for Johnnie Walker Blue? NO. She's constantly being followed by the paprazzis who have nothing better else to do with themselves and take snapshots of a young adult enjoying her wealth just like me and you would do. So when Lindsay get bashed like if it's all her fault that she's a bad role model for kids, I have to back her up a bit because she doesn't invite the stalkers with the Poloroids to come watch her party. You're right when we were young we hid it. But we weren't famous for if we were, there'd be some jerk off behind a vestibule waiting for you to look hammered and you and i will be all over the E! channel and Larry King. Peace bro.
