A while back, I checked out the Skin and Bones exhibit at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art that fused architecture and fashion now the incomparable Suzy Menkes checks out the Camouflage exhibit at London's Imperial War museum. What does camo have to do with fashion? The exhibit, divided into categories such as Distort, Deceive and Advertise traces the origin of camouflage clothing to the 19th century study of protective coloring in animals. The exhibit also connects camouflage and Cubism in relation to breaking down the body and then traces camouflage's move into pop culture. The show includes both military uniforms and fashion designs with a splitscreen display featuring both military exercises and runway walks. The exhibit is at the Imperial War Museum until November 18.[via Fashion Week Daily]
