Wear a piece of the Titanic

4/14/2007 11:37AM by Jonathon Morgan

The Titanic, the the world's most-famous failure, immortalized forever in an unbelievably saccharine yet wildly-successful movie, is now for sale.

Well, pieces of it, anyway. You can now purchase a wristwatch made with steel and coal from the ship, as created by luxury watchmaker Romain Jerome SA.

But it will cost you. A lot. According to the company's chief executive, the new "Titanic-DNA" collection is "very luxurious and very inaccessible," which sounds more or less like a taunt to rich people who think they can afford anything. And with a price tag of anywhere between $7,800 and $173,100, he just might be right.

"It's a message of hope, of life stronger than death, or rebirth," said the executive.

Yeah. That, and making lots, and lots, and lots of money.

That being said, it's a good-looking watch.
