I've mentioned the New York Times fashion blogger Cathy Horyn in a few previous posts here at Styledash. Even though her personal pondering don't interest me in the least, I quite admire the way she drops truth bombs on fashions folks. All told, she's a breath of fresh air among the pandering yes-men and yes-women of fashion journalism.But not everyone enjoys Horyn's contrarian views as much as I do. Designers Giorgio Armani and Dolce and Gabbana have decided to officially ban Horyn from their fashion shows. In the past, Horyn has said some less than kind things about both fashion houses, which Armani characterized as "idiocy."
Those are strong words from the man with the tan. No one likes their "genius" to be questioned, so I get where the Italians were coming from, but you'd think after all these years in the business Armani and D&G would have a slightly thicker skin.
I'm sure the ban has Horyn's editors worried and the TImes advertising people in a blind panic, but I hope the paper continues to support her. Fashion wouldn't be the same without her.
