British women are known for many things, but taste in clothes is not one of them. (Don't get defensive, people -- neither are American women!) To illustrate this point, I'll like to take the opportunity to bring in some photos from the Classical Brit Awards. For those of us living on this side of the pond, the Classical Brit Awards recognizes achievements of classical musicians and the growth of classical music sales in the UK. So as you are looking at these photos, remember, these are classical musicians -- opera singers, pianists, chamber musicians -- not your run of the mill British pop star hoping an especially provocative outfit will land her a following with international music fans.
First is Sarah Brightman, whom many of you all will know from her performance as Christine Daae in The Phantom of the Opera. Based on her red platform shoes and feathery brothel dress, she's obviously campaigning for the title roll in Andrew Lloyd Weber's new musical, The Call-girl of the Opera.
Here's Katherine Jenkins. She is an opera singer who was nominated for the best album award. Needless to say she didn't win, so I'm sure Diana Ross will be expecting her trusty old turquoise jumpsuit back, stat.
