By turning your stairs into drawers, you can utilize the space beneath them for all that stuff you probably never use anyway, but aren't ready to take to Goodwill. Sounds like a great place for baby clothes that no longer fit (but you're saving for when someone you know has a kid), winter clothes that you won't need for 4 or 5 months, or last season's big hit item that you paid way to much for, that you're hoping might come back in style.
