Are Dopies the new Crocs?

It's no secret that I think Crocs are stupid. They're everywhere, they're ugly, and -- up until 5 minutes ago -- I thought anything would be better than those brightly-colored monstrosities.

But then I found the Dopie -- quite possibly the silliest-looking piece of footwear mankind has ever created. While Crocs are modeled after clogs, the Dopie is modeled after flip-flops. The only major difference between Dopies and your standard thong sandal is that the strap across over the top of your foot isn't connected to the nub between your toes. That, and the fact that they come in a variety of shockingly loud neon colors -- for people who think that makes them look "funky."

Apparently Dopies are on their way to an REI near you, so do yourself a favor and stay away. If nobody buys them, we can stop this trend before it hits Wal-Mart.

They look like jika-tabi... if ninjas didn't care about being seen for their neon feet. Seriously, these are aweful. I can't wear thong sandals anyway, so I'm staying far away.

Yuck! I agree with the #1 post that they look like a camels foot. Who knows though...they might be the most comfortable thing going......but they are still UGLY!

Yikes! Dopies seem as dopey as Crocs. Both are ugly, and bright colored. Come on people- please stick to flip-flops! Do the world a favor. Normal flip-flops are easier to put on, anyway.

looks like the space between your toes is waaaaaay too wide. looks extremely uncomfortable and just like crocs these things may be dangerous. people would look like morons walking down the street with those things on. i would be laughing so hard if someone were stupid enough to buy those things.

Crocs are super comfy, we own a bunch. Now these shoes? I really don't think they'd be all that comfy. And that big icky thing in the middle? Doesn't look comfy at all. I'll keep to regular ol flip flops!

They do look ugly, but I thought crocs do too, but somehow the ugly colors took off, I image these will too then........I have major foot problems and own 2 pair of crocs, black and white (so, im boring), I love sandals but can't wear them, if they have these in black or white, I ADMIT, I will try em........BUT, only cause of my feet problems.........

I have Nike shoes that are close to this concept. Came with matching socks, don't know what plastic-ish ones would be like. Probably sweaty!
They are comfortable, though. My sis calls them "deer feet shoes".

Yep! They're UGLY! The picture shows a guy skateboarding with them on....looks like an accident waiting to happen if you ask me. A somewhat dangerous design. These aren't practical, they aren't even cute. And NO self respecting male I know would consider wearing them! Of course...I haven't noticed guys wearing "crocs" either!

Those are very very ugly shoes. Who would wear them? I love my crocs they are comfortable an I like wearing them to the pool cause I don't worry so much about slipping.

The name definetly fits this shoe..... you would look "dopie" wearing them. Its even uglier and more unfashionable than the crock.... what are these designers thinking when they try to market these atrocities...

They got the right name, because that's what they look like on
some dopie americans who are going to wear this sh.ttt shoe.
stick to the basic stuff and flip flops are starting to look better than ever.

MomfromTX, 3 years ago we moved to Puerto Morelos Mexico (from Texas) and you would be amazed at the number of men (and women) who wear crocs...picture this....on the beach, men with white legs, baggy shorts past their knees and a pair of neon green crocs.....not an attractive sight!!!!

Looks like something you'd see in Europe! No offense to anyone, but they seem to have a history for wearing "interesting" things. It's funny with fashion sometimes. Some things take off like wild fire and you just shake your head and ask why and other things that may work for real live working, regular people don't fit the trend that the Powers That Be are shoving down our throats and are therefore removed from the shelves just as fast as they appear. I don't understand and probably never will because I'm simply not supposed to, I guess. The only issue I have with the Croc shoes is that, to me, they make your feet look bigger than they really are. But they are good shoes for amusement parks with water rides. Everybody was wearing them at Disney World! My advice to everyone: Wear what YOU like and what makes YOU comfortable. After all, you're spending YOUR money, right?????

I thought Crocs were bad, but these take the cake. I will admit that the first pair of Crocs I saw were worn by a river guide and I thought they were pretty interesting, but I can't stand things that are "trendy." Even if I like something, I won't buy it if I know everyone owns it.
