Ever heard of an iron Kristin Cavallari?

Kristen Cavallari showed up at the Yellow Premiere on June 20th wearing this green pillow case and gold Christian Louboutin shoes. Here is the problem, she looks ridiculous. Why on earth would a beautiful girl leave the house without ironing her pillow case ... I mean dress? If any of you were considering sporting a green silk pillow case, let me explain to you why that is a horrible idea.

First of all, silk is not a very flattering material. It clings to every roll on your body and if you are like Kristen who clearly doesn't have any rolls, silk goes ahead and makes some rolls for you (see how lumpy and weird she looks in the chest area).

My second issue with silk is if the garment isn't perfectly constructed the outfit will automatically look cheap. The hem was sewn all wrong which is making this "dress" resemble a pillow case. Another dead giveaway that this wasn't sewn perfectly is the pucking on the sleeves. It's just all wrong.

Third problem is the wrinkling. Dresses like this one aren't meant for sitting down. So unless you are being rolled into the event on your back or you have some helpful assistant with a steamer or an iron ready, you end up looking like Kristen.

Lesson you should walk away with, don't ever go to an event in a cheap silk pillow case because I will make fun of you.

Its SATIN!!!, not silk. One would think if you were going to such lengths to comment on this outfit, you'd at least get the facts right. And the REALLY big problem with this outfit is it looks like t blouse, and she forgot the bottom half. One can only imagine what it looks like from the rear....

And haven't you ever heard of the comma, Lauren?

No, and I still have not heard of a what's-her-name made of iron, as your lead implies.

Some observations from a male.....

I came across this blog purely by accident. I saw a headline that shouted "men don't like women wearing 'baby-doll' dresses". As a male and not having a clue what a "baby doll" dress was, I figured I better check this out.

One either "gets" the fashion industry output or they don't. I am clearly in the latter camp. Most of the runway items that I have seen are unwearable in 99.9% day or night life situations.

Furthermore, I cringe when I see how uncomfortable some of these items must be for women to wear. The old saying that women wear this stuff " for the men" is off the mark. Most men couldn't care less about a *designer* outfit versus something you bought at the local mall. To add insult to discomfort, how many guys even remember and comment on that designer outfit a day or two later?

Women must wear these outfits to impress other women. Or, given the blog comments I have seen, to inspire spirited discussions. (;o)

RE: the green dress and the shoes. Another good example of what I said above. First, as the blogger noted, a woman could not sit down while wearing that dress. OK....perhaps if she had some exhibitionist tendencies....but it is cut so high that it would leave nothing to the imagination.

Second, ignore the material for a sec. It looks to me like an old potato sack that has been roughly cut to fit a human's body. To think that it took any time to come up with this design is hard to believe. I cringe to think of how much that dress costs!

Third, I have no idea whether it is silk or satin. However, Ms. Messiah made a perfectly valid point about the look it is creating. I still believe the "potato sack" design is what causes the dress "mak[ing] some rolls for you". However, the material probably adds to that problem.

Since I had delved this far into the fashion world, I decided to check out the shoe link. It was not as shocking as I expected. A tad over $800 for the gold shoes. The shoes are sexy but, again, they probably would not be too comfortable....the heels look pretty long to me. I figured they would cost around $2,000, so that was the only real surprise.

I did a rough calculation given that amount, and for $800, I could purchase a really nice pair of dress shoes for myself and have enough money left over to buy another 3 pairs of good quality leisure footwear. [As a disclaimer: I have 2 pairs of formal dress shoes, three pairs of leisure/office shoes and two pairs of athletic shoes....so with seven pairs, I probably have more shoes than most men]. However, I was trying to remember the last time I bought shoes.....it would have been at least 18 months ago. I keep all of my shoes clean and in good shape. The last pair I bought was athletic....when they wear out, I run down to a shoe store and buy something comfortable.

Summing up....this was an hour well spent for me. I did not realize how much time, cost and agony women must have to go thru to get the "right" outfits for themselves. I have always complemented girlfriends on special outfits they wore, but it was a polite type response as opposed to having any intimate knowledge of the dress label.

I believe that if a woman is comfortable with her body, she can wear regular clothing (read, "off the rack") and will look sexy. I think our culture makes people think that if you don't wear Brand X or Brand Y then you are not going to appeal to your partner. Same philosophy as pushing plastic surgery and for men, hair restorations.

I surprised a girlfriend one day by noticing a pair of shorts she was wearing while we were biking around. I thought they looked hot. When I mentioned this, she was taken aback for two reasons......first, I was not the type to talk about what she wore and second, she told me that the shorts were about 3 years old and she had pulled them out at the last minute. She said that she hardly ever wore them anymore.

I thought it was affectionate of her when she would wear those shorts every now and then after the first time. She thought I did not notice....but I did. I played dumb the next time she had them on. As she got into the car, I told her how nice she looked but did not explicitly mention the shorts. I noticed her adjusting them more than she needed to and doing little things that caused me to look at her shorts and legs. When we finally got to the party, I laughed and told her I knew all the time that they were the same shorts. She told me I had been bad but then immediately broke into a big laugh. (:o)

The female body is so beautiful that fashion design should allow the human imagination to run free....where is the mystery with these "minimalist" designs?

'Nuff high (and low) fashion for me today!
