At mass in Manila, don't wear a v-neck top

If plan to attend a Catholic mass in Manila anytime soon, make sure that you leave your low cut sarong dress back at the hotel.

The archdiocese of Manila recently issued a set a guidelines addressing what is and what is not appropriate mass attire following complaints from parishioners about their pew mates' distracting outfits. Peachy Yamsuan, a spokesperson for the diocese, pointed out that the new rules are intended to "to remind people that it would be good to come in appropriate clothing because other people are scandalized."

To get the point across, church leaders have hung posters posters that dictate what is appropriate for mass -- i.e. no short skirts, revealing necklines and spaghetti-strap tops for the ladies and no shorts, caps and basketball jerseys for men.

Call me old-fashioned, but I think it should go without saying that mini skirts and baseball caps are a bad idea for church going. I know, I know, god loves you just as you are, but I seriously doubt that applies to women in boob shirts and men in tank tops.

Anne Metz, I just observed that you're sort of an atheist or an agnostic. I don't know but all I know when it's about religion and faith , you have nothing good to say . First you were opposed to the idea of young fashion-model hopefuls hoping to find meaning in their faith through Christ , and now you refer God as "god loves you". When your idea of a god is not God, then don't assume that all gods "love people unconditionally" because not all gods are like God. But if you believe that a certain "god can love" , pleaaaaaaahhhhsee just refer that god as "God" because he is the only god that loves people unconditionally. You 're supposed to blog about fashion and not post your insights about faith, religion and God. So stick to fashion. And by the way, the Catholic faith in the Philippines is based on the teachings of "God" not "god" ....because there are so many gods and maybe you have several of them that you adore and worship all your life.

And one more thing, Ms. Metz, if you're opposed to that law, be grateful that you're not in the Philippines. But I assume you have the "mind" to sense that it's universal to respect a god, right? So if Filipinos know that God loves them unconditionally, aren't their responsibility is to give God respect in His house of worship? I wonder what kind of life you lead--- probably a "sporadic, aimless" one which is measured by your "self-worth " based on "clothes, shoes, bags and celebrities".....tsk, tsk...

I agree with GNIB. When you go to a party, you don't wear a pajama, and when you go to the beach, you shouldn't wear a suit and when you attend a wedding, you don't wear your shorts and skimpy shirts. I also had read a previous blog post of Ms. Metz where she dissed young fashion models joining a Christian group and to our horro, Ms. Metz was against it. This time, she's getting a little way over. And she's not even using her mind. Ms. Metz, do you realize that it goes the same "rules" when you go to a wedding, are you gonna wear your denim shorts and flip-flops? No you don't . You respect the bride and the bridegroom, even though you're not really that close with them. In the same way, when you go to church, you don't wear skimpy shirts and inappropriate clothing (reserved only for sluts) even though you don't know God....so why against that law? I am a Christian and I'm very sorry for what you feel towards a "god" or God himself. If you don't kinow what you're saying, we recommend you to just keep your mouth closed.

^^^TO HOTDIGGITYDOGMA... I am Filipino and Filipino men don't
wear
tuxedos In fact, we don't wear tuxedos in any formal occasion. We
have the "Barong Tagalog" made from jusi fabric which is the
Filipinos' formal wear for men. Only a few Filipino men wear suits
and mostly those who are in the executive level in businesses. And
that's it. Hey, where did you get that idea that we Filipinos wear
tuxedos all the time? Research please and look up at some pictures
and tell this board that Filipinos wear tuxedos. The point of the
law is that we can wear any type of clothes as long as they don't
reveal too much skin especially those that are should be covered. We
are Christians and we rever our God in his house. There is nothing
wrong with that rule. It's only a 1 hr mass.

Besides, most really hot women know that covering up, done right, can make you look much sexier than easy random displays of flesh.
