At mass in Manila, don't wear a v-neck top

6/26/2007 2:26PM by Anne Metz

If plan to attend a Catholic mass in Manila anytime soon, make sure that you leave your low cut sarong dress back at the hotel.

The archdiocese of Manila recently issued a set a guidelines addressing what is and what is not appropriate mass attire following complaints from parishioners about their pew mates' distracting outfits. Peachy Yamsuan, a spokesperson for the diocese, pointed out that the new rules are intended to "to remind people that it would be good to come in appropriate clothing because other people are scandalized."

To get the point across, church leaders have hung posters posters that dictate what is appropriate for mass -- i.e. no short skirts, revealing necklines and spaghetti-strap tops for the ladies and no shorts, caps and basketball jerseys for men.

Call me old-fashioned, but I think it should go without saying that mini skirts and baseball caps are a bad idea for church going. I know, I know, god loves you just as you are, but I seriously doubt that applies to women in boob shirts and men in tank tops.
