Style for your satellite dish
One of the drawbacks of having a gazillion TV channels is the satellite dish you need to get them all. Not only is installing the thing an incredible chore that often involves risking life and limb while crawling around on your roof, but it also looks awful. It's not the end of the world when the dish is perched atop a nice-looking house in the middle of a leafy suburb, but in "satellite city," an immigrant neighborhood in Amsterdam, there were so many, that you could barely see anything else if you looked up from the street.
So a local artist, aided by area school children, decided he'd decorate the dishes, and in doing so, took them from eye sore to extraordinary.
I think this would be a great project even for non-urban dwellers. As long as you're stuck with a great big dish on top of your roof, why not have a little fun with it? I think even the nicest home could benefit from the addition of a bright blue flower, or a psychedelic color wheel. It'd certainly give the neighbors something to talk about.
