I think beauty pageants are dumb. Not because I have a problem with judging people based on their appearance and fashion choices (obviously), but because the whole point is to paint these women as "good girls," who would never drink, curse, party, or have any fun -- a notion that, especially given the recent Miss America "scandals," couldn't be further from the truth.

But, finally, here's a pageant without the pretense: Miss White Trash.

From the pageant organizers:

Founded in 1999 in Portland, Oregon, the annual Miss White Trash Pageant celebrates women who proudly represent the large and looming underbelly of middle Americana. The pageant draws amazing contestants from all walks of life to compete for the coveted title of Miss White Trash.
The constants are judged on Outfit, Talent, and Overall Trashiness -- and, best of all, the winner walks home with a 1972 GMC pickup truck. Now that's a pageant.

Only people in the Portland area can check out the event live (the contest is on September 22, fyi), but, fortunately for the rest of us, a company is filming a reality TV pilot at this year's competition -- so keep your fingers crossed, and we might get to see this year's winner in all her trashy glory!
