Glycolic acid should be your new best friend

Do you ever feel like your skin care routine is getting out of control? If so, you're not alone, which is why I want the universe to know that there is an easier way to perfect skin than the ten-product shuffle.

If this is starting to sound like an infomercial, I apologize. I can't help it. I heart MD Forte!

If you haven't heard of MD Forte before, I wouldn't be surprised. The brand marketing is largely nonexistent, and it was only through a friend that I heard about it in the first place. (Oddly enough, this friend couldn't remember the brand name without a Google search. Go figure.)

So why is it so great?

Well, to start, it's really simple. The basic Forte regimen consists of two products, a cleanser and a lotion, which contain glycolic acid ranging from 12% to 20%. New users start out with a low level of glycolic acid (Level !), but you can work your way up to a high concentration (Level III) once your skin adjusts to the active ingredient.

Glycolic acid is actually a great exfoliant which naturally stimulates new cell production. New skin, of course, leads to a younger-looking, more radiant face. If the "acid" part seems scary, don't worry. It's not actually that bad, and believe it or not with continued use, your skin starts to retain its own moisture so that you may not even need extra moisturizer.

The results? Having spent the better part of the past 15 years trying to figure out what I needed to get my skin to behave, I sort of feel like I've accidentally stumbled on the holy grail of skincare. Without posting a series of dumb-looking before and after photos, you have to trust me: my skin is clearer, smoother and more even toned than I ever imagined it could be. Beauty blogger's promise!

Sure, over the years, I've spent a small fortune on dermatology appointments and ineffective products, which yielded basically nothing, but from where I'm sitting right now, it was all worth it!
