Patricia Field designs for Payless Shoes

patricia field for payless
Where have I been? As it turns out that Patricia Fields not only wears and styles her clients in Payless shoes but she designs them, too.

When Patricia Field walked the red carpet at the Oscars (she was nominated for best costumes for "The Devil Wears Prada") she was wearing Payless shoes. Not just any pair of Payless shoes, a pair that she "styled" herself.

This holiday season her "red carpet" shoes will be available to purchase at Payless stores. The platform heels with an ankle strap are made with an edgy green metallic snakeskin patterned material. After years of having a close relationship with Patricia Fields, Payless approached her with the design project and she jumped at the chance.

The shoes are actually quite cute and I will take any excuse to walk into Payless to smell that weird rubber shoe smell. Seriously, I could take in that smell for hours.

This just might be the best high-low fashion news I've heard in a long time. It's Payless so I suppose there's only so much quality one can expect in $20 shoes but I look forward to seeing what fun and kitschy designs Patricia Fields might come up with... And I hope that the shoes she's wearing in the photo above included in her collection.

Finally, designer shoes that are not only cute, but the average woman can afford them as well. Kudos to Patricia.

I am a payless junkie!!! with styles in and out and kids who can afford 300 shoes?? Great, need more designers to be less greedy and think smart. Avg person would not spend 300 on one pair, make them 20-50 and well we can buy a few!!

Why pay $75 and more for Chinese crap when Payless will sell you essentially the same Chinese crap for $25 and less? According to this article, it's NOT because of the style.

Oh, my... I love shoes so much—and Sex & the City. I can't believe Patricia Field is now going to be designing for Payless. That is like the best present ever. I write a lot about sex on my racy blog, but the days when I mention shoes (like in the post below—beware, definitely Not Suitable for Work) are the ones that win me the most comments!

Alison

Payless...I hate that store, no matter WHO is designing the shoes. I have 6 kids and won't even bother shopping there because the stuff is junk. You get what you pay for...and after buying a few pairs of $17 dollar athletic shoes for my boys, and having to replace them after 4 weeks because they are glued and stitched shoddily, FORGET IT! How am I saving money if I have to buy new shoes every month? As far as shoes for ME, the hell with it, I don't outgrow shoes, and I am totally worth the extra hundred bucks. Give me quality and comfort over bargain junk.

Are most women addicted to shoes? You all sound like you are addicted. I'm one of the very few women I know who doesn't love to spend hours in shoe stores. I own 4 pairs of shoes. One pair of boots, one pair of heels, one of sandals, and one of sneakers.

I work at Payless and it's funny to me that now because Patricia Field is designing for us, now everyone, or at least more people are noticing. We already have three designers for our stores, Lela Rose, Alice & Trixie designer and Laura Poretsky who designs Abaete. You all should look them up. And by the way, our shoes aren't just $25 anymore. Actually it's changed a lot because before applying there I didn't even shop there. But our shoes actually range up to $70 depending on whether you want real leather (i.e. from Argentina) or faux. Also, to address Michelle, I laugh because although I do still buy more expensive shoes for myself, make sure you check out the quality of more expensive brands as well. I wanted to buy a pair of Guiseppe Zanotti leopard pumps from Neiman Marcus but the glue and quality and so on was "glued and stitched shoddily" just about as well as Payless. So it's not always you get what you pay for. You just pay for a name. Silly girl.

Well I have bad feet, I'm hard on shoes, and payless shoes Will tear up in a N.Y. Min. so I cannot wear them... But good luck to anyone who can. Maybe I will after I have the surgery to fix my flat feet.

Duh, who is Patricia Field? I'll stick with Nine West, can get a pair of pumps that look just like Manola Blahnik but $400.00 less and if you buy 2 pair, you can get 50% off one pair :) and they're leather ladies.
