The Not So Good, the Bad, and the Uggs - Styledash picks the ugliest shoes ever

Love or Hate 'em: The Ugliest Shoes on the Block

Love them or hate them, these are the ugliest shoes on the block. If you own any of these (I have to say I do own one pair on the list) it's not you that is ugly. It's your footwear. So without further ado, I present you with "The Not So Good, the Bad, and the Uggs."

1) Uggs: Sure they are warm, sure they are comfortable, but guess what else they are? Ugly. These sheepskin boots will keep your feet warm in the winter and cool in the summer but not without a smattering of insults.

2) Crocs:
Perhaps the most hideous shoe on the list, have been spotted all over town from your creepy next door neighbor to the President of the United States.

3) Doc Marten: Blame the 90's on these sh%t kickers. Kurt Cobain and the grunge era made these a closet staple and today "punk" rockers like Avril Lavigne has kept them going strong.

4) Birkenstocks: Nothing says "I don't care about my image" and "I care entirely too much about my image" at the same time like a pair of Birks. A dirty hippie's footwear of choice.

5) Teva Sandals: See the blurb about Birkenstocks and replace "dirty hippies" with "granola nature freak"

6) Jellies: Any product of the 1980s can relate to the permanent toe damage that these shoes have caused. What little girls once wore to look grown up, are worn by foolish adults to look sweet and cute.

7) Steve Madden Slinky: Most likely the only original design Steve Madden ever came up with, these shoes can be seen on women of all ages. Why? I do not know. Not only do they look hideous, they look pretty uncomfortable too.

8) High HeelSneakers: The most nonsensical shoe in the bunch. We wear sneakers to run around and play. We wear high heels to look sexy while being in a horrible amount of pain. When you combine the two the results are disastrous.

9) Platform Flip-Flops:
Why oh why do so many women wear these shoes? They are ugly and probably not the safest shoes around. I mean balancing on a 3 inch platform of $10 foam can never be a good idea.

10) Gladiator Sandals: They may be "in" right now but just know those second glances aren't looks of approval, they are just wondering if you are in costume for the movie. Which came out years ago.

Lauren, I'd really like to see a picture of you. I would guess that you have absolutely no real taste at all. I happen to own Birkenstocks and Uggs, along with 40 other shoes, and all of which I'm very happy and stylish in.

Who cares what so-called "fashion experts" say? Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. There is no such thing as "good" or "bad" taste. It would be a boring world if we all dressed alike,so I say express yourself and wear what you want. Don't conform to the "fashion police" snobs!

MBT shoes are ugly and expensive. I used to wear them to get a work out while just walking. I recently discovered Smartsole insoles which have the same negative heel positive arch and wear them all the time. You burn more calories with every step I bought mine on amazon, but the smartsole site is having a sale http://www.smartsole.com.

I don't care if someone thinks my birks are ugly - they're darn comfortable in the Texas heat in the summers, and good for my bad back. I've seen some stylish shoes, and they make your feet/back/whole body hurt!

Our society is so sad. Wear what you want and please don't give any creedance to those people out there who "think" they know what you should be wearing. Aren't there better things for people to be worring about ?

I find this list interesting. I do believe Croc's are ugly, but that just happens to be my own opinion. EVERYONE wears Croc's, so it's pretty hard to say they are the ugliest shoes around, when EVERYONE has them. And by the way, I think Uggs are so cute, and I want a pair for Christmas. Ugg's ARE fashionable. Thats why everyone has them!

"These sheepskin boots will keep your feet warm in the winter and cool in the summer but not without a smattering of insults."

Insults? More like compliments.

I agree that crocs and birks are not the prettiest shoes around, but when I am working around the house and doing yard work, they are perfect and comfortable for me. I work in the medical field and I am on my feet for a good 10 hours a day. So I am thankfur for something comfortable.
BTW, who is this "fashion expert". I don't think you know s**t.

well first off, if your going to be mouthing off your opinions about fashion at least spell check your article. aog=ago i think?

and secondly, your word is just opinion. People won't care because they'll continue wearing what they want. obviously.

Birkenstocks are good for your feet! I will not be in pain due to a stupid but fashionable choice in footwear. After one bad pair of shoes, I had plantar fasciaitis for more than a YEAR! Very painful. Wearing Birkenstocks consistently has been my cure.

Call them what u will but Uggs are the best idea in footwear i've ever discovered. i have 6 pair of them-literally a pair for each day of the week-and to me they're anything but ugly and go with anything. i have not gotten insults, only compliments like has been said. And.....i'm a guy. Most ppl seem to think that only women wear Uggs but that's not the case. Crocs on the other hand-ick! Like flip flops i wouldn't be caught dead in them. D: And i love a good pair of Docs, that's just the punk in me. XDD

UGGS are fabulous! I have about 4 pair and 1 pair of the slippers and my husband, a gun toting Republican, has their oxford dress shoes and slippers and we get compliments all of the time. I also have a pair of jelly shoe Stuart Weitzman sandals with rhinestones that are really cute and get complimented too. I think the person who wrote this article is probably drunk and has no fashion sense whatsoever.

I can't believe Earth Shoes didn't make the list. What about SAS shoes? I realize both are built for comfort not style, but aren't they on the homely side?

Here, here!!! I agree that all the footwear listed is ugly! Most of the footware on the list are "fad" footwear. Which means, they are "in" one day and "out" the next! If you want style, buy footwear that is quality, with tasteful design, and can stand up through the test of time. Also, I believe fashion (what ever it might be - shoes, clothes, hair styles) should be age appropriate because otherwise you look like you are trying to be something that you are not, and you look quite pathetic actually. If that is the only way you can get attention then I would suggest some therapy. Now, I did own a pair of doc martins when I was a teenager and it was acceptable then. I have an affection towards this "clod-hopper" of a shoe as my mom would call them, but you wouldn't catch me as an adult wearing them.

Okay, leave the Docs and the Birks out of it. Docs are great for ankle support and feel oh, so nice laced up the calf. And because the insoles of Birks shape themselves into the form of the feet of the person wearing them, they can provide quite comfort.

I, personally, don't really care for the rest of the lot of them, but who am I to tell someone what to wear? For that matter, who is anyone to tell ME what to wear?

Wear what you want. Wear what you feel you look best in. Experiment some. Who cares what's "in style?" If you wear things simply because they're "in style," you obviously have a problem with being yourself, as you're dressing in order to gain acceptance from others. People should accept you for who you are. If they can't see beyond your choice in clothing and accessories, then they're not worth wasting your time and effort.

o my gosh some of those shoes are cute! like the boots. im not an adult so they look better on me. adults should have boots with heels.

also i saw some silver gellies in Claire and they were adorable! they were better looking than the blue ones in the pic up there.

last but not least, i loove gladiator sandals. they didnt put a good pic of them up there. i luv hayden panetierre's, i should get a pair like that. like the gold ones.
