Leg up for argyle socks

sex and the city movie argyle socksHosiery is having quite the fashion revival this winter. Tights, leggings, thigh highs, leg warmers and socks are appearing on the most fashion forward girls. I, for one, cannot live without black opaque tights as they keep me warm and stylish.

I don't plan on ditching my tights anytime soon, but I would like to add to them to make the a bit more exciting. I have been toying with my '80s throwback side by layering with leg warmers but today I was on a mission to find over-the-knee socks, argyle to be specific.

Finding knee-high argyle socks is child's play. Just go to Target or any department store and you are sure to find them. Finding the over-the-knee variation was a bit tougher. After fighting through a few post Thanksgiving sale nut jobs, I found myself in Loehmann's. Bingo! Argyle over-the-knee socks with cashmere for only $14.99. They were originally $45.

Be a risk taker like Carrie Bradshaw and wear them with a mini dress or take it down a notch like me and wear them with opaque tights and shorts.

not entirely sure how i feel about the look. some people just don't know how to layer. i've seen some tacky things, but i've also seen some pretty cute combinations. honestly, the fact that an '8s trend is back scares me senseless

Okay...I was born in 82 so I don't re-call any of the fashion but I have seen pictures and movies and all I have to say is the 80s are over...thank god because they were ugly! so I don't think we should be trying to bring back any part of the 80s.

well all i have to say is for the most part everything we get in the department stores is trickled down fashion styles from the runways and...so THEY choose what to bring back and update, not necessarily the exact style of that decade...we all could wear button collared shirts with black slacks, but that would be conforming to one style and not expression or embracing fashion as an art form...i think this style is interesting and could be played up in either a subdued form for those not willing to take risks in color or fashion in general...and then for the others play it up like sjp and other clothes designers...

well, I was 20 in 1980 and in music and theater business. I hated the styles and wore my own thing then pieced together from what I made and found at resale shops and will again if all I can purchase is that tasteless.

I think That her style looks awesome and Feel that its not really any of your places to judge anyone on anything they choose to wear. Its an expression of oneself. So let them be themselves and if you feel like being negative, Keep it in your head because honestly none of your opinions are going to make any kind of difference.

lol to Jessica.. so people can't have their own opinions? What about your little opinion here stating that it isn't our place to do this or that? THAT is just an opinion. It's funny you think YOUR measly opinion serves any merit here on this thing. HYSTERICAL! Take a bit of your own advice, girlfriend and can it.

Back on topic however.. I think this outfit in particular that she is wearing is a bit off-the-wall.. but to each their own I guess. I personally would try to color coordinate.. or pattern coordinate a little more than she did, but it's kinda neat to see this style creeping back into today's fashion. History repeats itself yanno. :)

I have to say, its amazing. I'm the weird kid at my school that dares to wear tall socks with capris or a skirt. So, obviously, I am behind this knee-high and thigh-high socks movement ALL THE WAY.

i love the look. i've always admired the costuming with the show and sjp personal style.

she captures what fashion truly is, its imaganation.

it doesn't matter if the socks don't match the out fit in this case we're not talking black shoes black socks.
its part of the look.
yes designs trickle down from top designers to ready to wear lines to knock offs. yet everything is an imitation or inspired by an artists work. the designer. fashion is a form of art and when you wear peoples pieces its like wearing a painting. that you can adapt to be yours by trying new things and new risks.
the truely fashion forward are ones to not hesitate in taking chances
because thats what you have to do in life.

Are you bored with your generic tights, leggings, or hosiery? Well, I say funk it up! There is something magical aboutFabulously Floral Leggings great hosiery. It’s an easy way to spice up a simple outfit.Majesitc Leggings

We love these Fabulously Floral Footless Tights by Look From London. Pair them with a little denim skirt, a great top for a fun, and some boots and you will be good to go.

Of course if printed tights aren’t your thing, you can always opt for a pair of either Viscose/Elasthane or Cotton/Cashmere Leggings from Majestic in more muted tones of Black and Charcoal. They are soft, comfortable, and totally in style!
