Fat and rich: Preferred by 3 out of 4 American women

Ladies: would you rather have Jennifer Aniston's body, or a million bucks?

If the results from a new poll by Women's Day magazine and AOL Body are any indication, three out of four women would prefer to be wealthy...instead of healthy. This was in spite of the fact that 30 percent admitted feeling "uncomfortable or ashamed" about their bodies, and 37 percent said they wished they could "be thinner."

Is this body worth a million bucks?

So...it'd be great to look like a celeb, but it'd be better to be loaded? I guess that makes sense -- when you're rich, everyone is basically required to say you look great, even if it isn't true. And with that kind of money you could buy an endless supply of fancy-shmancy body-shaping undergarments that might fool the casual onlooker into thinking you had a beach bod -- but wouldn't it feel better knowing you had the physique of a movie star?

I guess not. Regardless, you can read the entire poll for yourself in the February 12 issue of Women's Day, which is available in newsstands starting January 22.

If you had a million dollars, you could pay to have a personal chef make you and your family delicious healthy meals and then get thin too... and have your family be healthy also... just a thought.

It’s sad these people haven’t realized yet that the people who said they would rather have money are smarter. If you actually think about this instead of jumping to the conclusion that if you’re rich you can't be healthy, you'll find that it makes more sense to be rich. 1. You can hire a personal trainer. 2. You can pay for healthy foods and exercise equipment. 3. And if that doesn’t' work than you could just get liposuction. Also, what if you’re already healthy/skinny? You would obviously choose being rich. So don't automatically assume that those who would want to be rich are choosing to be unhealthy! ~LIZ~

Anniston doesn't have that great a body. She also needs a nose job. Her nose is too wide when you see her in person and even wider on the screen.

The best bodies are those of ballerinas.

I'd pick skinny. Because then you look hot, feel good, become a trophy wife for an old rich guy, and while you're waiting for him to die you sleep with the pool boy!

It's a great plan.

Though actually, when it all comes down to it, who would reach a point in their lives where they would have to choose between being "rich or skinny" anyway?

Definitely skinny!! Feeling good about yourself can be the best motivator to work hard, play hard, and have a happy life. Money cannot buy happiness!

Money indeed can buy happiness. The themes of most of your articles are noteworthy examples of the Hitlerian Big Lie!

I am searching for other web browsers which will spare me with having to put up with the garbage written by and for AOL

I totally agree with this comment. No amount of money can give you a healthy body, unless of course you are a movie star, but then again we are talking about people who start from nothing. Skinny or wealthy. I would be miserable having money if everything I tried to purchase didn't fit.

Definitely, money CANNOT buy hapiness! But, as a naturally thin girl myself, I would have to say that those celebs and all their money bought their little fake bodies! :)

A REAL woman doesn't need to worry about her "body image"....... because a real man loves her for who she is, not what she looks like.

Actually...recent photos of Jennifer Anniston look like she has put on (gasp!!) about 8-10 pounds.... She is not as emaciated as she normally is.

Why the hell would anybody feel better by having the body of a celeb? THEY don't even "have" those bodies. It's their money and occupation that forces them to be that thin. What a shallow jerk you are, that you think celeb bodies, most of which are either too skinny or surgically enhanced, is something all women should strive for. So women should stop trying to have careers and make money, just worry about your looks, ladies! Do work hard to look like Brad Pitt? I'm sorry you're terrified of real women, but I guess that's a problem you have to deal with. You should also get your facts straight, because being overweight is not the only aspect concerning health. If the person was slightly overweight, rather than obese, yet still lead a healthy life, didn't carry too much weight in the midsection, ate healthy, and exercised, they can actually be healthy. I bet if this question was directed to men, there's no way you would expect them to choose looks over money. So superficial.
