From red carpet to your closet: Tina Fey at the 2008 SAG Awards
Tina Fey rocked the SAG Awards in more ways than one -- she not only looked hot on the red carpet, but she also took home an award. I'll let you decide which is more important. You can probably guess what I think.A little black dress is generally a pretty safe bet, and not a bad choice for Tina -- she's one hell of a talent, but hasn't quite reached style icon status yet. However, I love that she took some risks with it, which is something many of us can do with the clothes already in our closets. Here's how:
- An asymmetrical neckline automatically brings interest to the outfit without sacrificing class and coverage. The fabric over her shoulder is slightly sheer and has a nice drape to it -- not unlike the effect you could accomplish with the right scarf.
- The skinny belt with small silver detail nips the dress in at her waist, but likely allows her some room to breath. If you have a dress or long top that lacks shape and definition, play around with belts to see the different looks you can create.
- I don't necessarily agree with her choice of shoes and jewelry in light and nude tones -- I would have liked to see something a bit stronger and more dramatic. However, the light shoe gives her a long leg because there's nothing stopping the line of the leg -- ditto for the bracelet on her right wrist. People don't always think about the way a bracelet shortens the arm, but if you're going for a long, lean look, be sure to look at all your accessories.
