Clinique: who wants man makeup?

If you're one of those guys who likes to play dress up with you girlfriend's makeup bag while she's at work, you're going to be happy with this news. For the rest of us, it's just kind of disturbing -- I sometimes have trouble with even putting on lip balm. That fateful day has finally arrived dear friends, Clinique is now marketing makeup for men.

Clinique M Cover is a natural looking foundation that hides unsightly blemishes, shaving nicks, and even those dark circles under your eyes from things like hangovers -- or even long nights spent crying over blowing the perfect season, Tom Brady.

If you are ever caught purchasing, applying or wearing this stuff, prepare to get seriously made fun of. Where do you go to purchase this kind of product, the men's makeup counter? I hope they at least have the decency to place it in a opaque bag where no one can see what it is, like other shameful products.

See for yourself.

There is nothing wrong with a man wanting to look his best. I mean, skip the eyeliner and mascara, but using good skin care products and a decent cover stick is not going to turn a guy into a sissy all of a sudden. Zits happen...cover them up!

I agree. My ex used to use my foundation to cover blemishes.

Hey, if you are a man who buys this product? More power to ya....what does it matter anyhow? Isn't it the person who resides on the inside that matters the most anyway? That's what I was always taught. Hmmmmm.........

I'm sorry but I like my man to be a MAN all the way. Take care of yourself, be FIT, dress nice, smell nice......but I draw the line at MAKEUP!
I can even get past the ''shaving'' of 'other' areas.......but NO MAKEUP!
I can handle anything on a MAN but MAKEUP! (and other 'girlie' things)
I man can even use moisturizers and like my hubby, never have a hair out of place.....but NOT MAKEUP!
The day my hubby picks up MY concealer will be the day he DIES (and his body will never be found!) HA....not that the idea would ever occur to him other than to MOVE IT out of his way!

Lady!!

You must really have question about your mans sexual preference if your so worried about him ever giving the thought of wearing concealer or cover on his face. Stap a set on him and yourself and stop being so afraid of what might happen. He might be so ugly he needs to wear it like you do most likely.

Barfing,

Why is it that all the ugly people like you and your husband wont do anything about it. (the way they look) I hope you come home one day and your husband is dressed to the hilt in womens close and smearing your neighbors makeup all over his face. Maybe then he will get somone to notice him. As far as you. Your probably to ugly so nothing would do you anygood so be done with it. Chop your head off and start over.

Good grief, get over it. It's just make-up- something you put on your face to look better. You have some issues if you think something like make-up defines a sex or sexuality. If you really have an issue, why don't you avoid hypocrisy, throw away YOUR make-up, then see what people think of you.

The biggest celebrities, personalities, and leaders in the world, "manly" and "heterosexual" men or what-have-you, wear make-up for events, press conferences, photo shoots, films, you name it, so that they can achieve the well-groomed "masculine" image that people find attractive. You'd be surprised.

Disturbing? A sissy? There's nothing wrong with a guy that wears makeup. Jesus, grow up hee man and quit eating Chunky Soup 3 times a day. Bet you have hair coming out of your nose and ears too? Think women like hair - anywhere but on your head? And cologne isnt a male version of perfume? Guess again! And get with the new century caveman.

What a goofy article, AOL is really starting to run string of these things lately. Not the idea of make-up thats goofy, but this authors crappy review. That person who wrote this 'article' is so biased against the concept, with all of his negative comments about the subject. Don't like the idea, don't buy it or use it - simple as that! But don't knock others that may like it, and it really is a growing trend out there. Anyway, I think that everyone should do whatever they feel comfortable with. I personally am not much into facial make-up (if you follow the music trends, especially with college music and 'emo' bands, dudes wearing eyeliner and make-up are quite common.) Thats not my bag, but my particular trade-mark is the wearing of nail polish. I grew really immersed into the music scene, and when all the rockers started wearing nail polish, so did I, usually black on the fingers, and gold or silver on the toes. I am an extremely responsible person, a college graduate with a 3.7 GPA, married with a daughter. Maybe it's because I'm also 6' tall and 200 lbs, but no one says anything at all to me about my nail polish. I once worked in law enforcement until getting a better job. I do not do it for anyone else but ME. I don't wear it to seek approval. I just do it to be different. If someone doesn't like it, tough. If they don't like me because of my nail polish, they are probably the type of person that I do not want to be around anyway. Anyway, I have no problem with the concept of mens make-up. I won't buy it because I don't need it, but I will continue wearing my nail polish, totally unabashedly and making no apologies or excuses to anyone. I just wish the people out there would quit being so darn judgemental over such superficial criteria, you all live your life, I'll live mine. The author used words like disturbing and decency. I wish he'd have the decency to quit writing disturbing articles motivated by his own personal or shortcomings or insecurities.

Ozzy, I agree with you regarding the slant some of these articles take. If it's someone's PERSONAL blog, that's one thing to be biased. BUT when it's on the AOL WELCOME screen as a link, I think it would be better just to FEATURE the product WITHOUT personal bias. Let the readers decide based on OBJECTIVE DATA. Thanks.

Hey, I think it will be great. I will buy it for my hubby. He wears safety glasses all day and looks like a racoon. When we have pictures done, it is very hard trying to blend his complextion and remove the dark circles under his eyes. I don't think its for everyday. Just for like professional pictures or something.

umm, there have been plenty of men's make-up lines before this one.... I can hardly blame men for wanting to use the stuff.. that's why women look so good, because of make-up! Nothing "shameful" about it, just learn how to apply properly.

I'm with you. My husband was a heavy equipment mechanic in the Air Force when we met and married almost 32 years ago. He was concerned about coming home to me at the end of a long, hard, greasy day and not being very attractive in the fragrance department. I told him right off not to worry about it at all - it smelled like money to me, honey! All it takes to cure it is a shower and some clean clothes. And for 32 years he's worked very hard and done very well at supporting his family as a mechanic. I'm proud of him every single day because he's not one to shy away from hard work and doing what it takes to get the job done right the first time.
As for makeup for guys? Maybe for some - but certainly not for all. Just like the ladies - some need or just want to use the full range of products, and some do nicely without any. It's a personal preference thing - if you don't like it, then please feel free not to use it.

How much ya wanna bet they cost half of what us women pay for makeup. they know we will pay the high costs, but, men won't.
and men, while you're at it, shave that mess you call the shadowed look and how about deoderant. Just knowing Mathew Mconlly doesn't use deoderant makes me find him so unattractive.
