Giambattista Valli Fall '08
Giambattista Valli is big on making a statement with clothing and this year his Fall '08 ready to wear show was no exception. Using almost all gowns and skirts, there were no pants, sweaters or coats or any other boring garments on the runway.Of the theme of the show, Valli said, "It's the classic story of a bloodless woman that ends in the passion." Well, I'm not quite sure what that means, but blood red certainly was the hue of the evening. The color palette ranged from bright pink to blood red with a few muted colors and furs thrown in along the way.
Many of the clothes were almost architectural and 3-D, with so much life to them that they looked like they might be able to stand on their own. If any actress or singer wants to pull this look off on the red carpet, she'll have to be careful to wear the clothes and not let the clothes wear her. The model pictured, unfortunately, wasn't able to do that, and ended up looking like a giant raspberry with legs.
