Silly designer, toys are for kids!

3/24/2008 2:22PM by Tiffany Neal

"I would love to be Jessica Rabbit, but maybe even the stepmother of Snow White."

And so begins the two minute clip Style.com just posted of Victorie de Castellane -- Christian Dior's infectious jewelry designer.

In short, the French woman is obsessed with bright colors, toys, toys, and did I mention toys? In fact, naughty little Japanese figurines, fake sweet confections, Disney snow globes, and yards of Skittle-colored plastic strings are all inspiration for each and every eccentric diamond bauble she creates for Dior.

Look, I too was filled with joy (and tears) when I first laid eyes on the tiny plastic Chanel bear bricks. But I still don't understand why every grown man and woman these days are so utterly obsessed with them -- as well as every other limited-edition "adult toy" being sold at urban street stores like Kidrobot.

Maybe it has something to do with a lost childhood? Or maybe their parents never bought them kid meals from McDonald's, which come with cool toys? Either way, this video is definitely worth watching if only to see the huge jewel-encrusted rings at the end.

Enjoy!
