The guys that write up the shoes over at the SeaVees website are a pretty confident bunch. Their lack of modesty, a trait normally considered off-putting, is so clearly justified that rather than be offended we want to buy them a beer.
Here's a sample of them loving their own brand: "Think Steve McQueen cool, Richard Nuetra [sic] clean and Brian Wilson creative. Now think of these things with 40 years of perspective, appreciation, and contemplation.
SeaVees. The casual style of California in the 1960's, only cooler."
Big shoes to fill? You bet, and they do it in style.

Each shoe is inspired by a date in the cool history of California. Whether or not the history is important to you is a personal matter, but it's interesting nonetheless.
According to the website, the 07/64 Four Eye Blucher is based on the arrival of the Porshe 911 to the sunny shores of California.
In May 1966 Pet Sounds was released by The Beach Boys. The album was incredible. The shoe is pretty sweet.
The 01/68 Perforated Circular Vamp Oxford (pictured) is inspired by the first Earnes Chaise, given to Billy Wilder.
The 10/68 is a tribute to Steve McQueen and the movie Bullitt. You know why.
There you have it, four dates in cool, four cool shoes.
