sarah j gim's day time makeup bag
As we've learned from StyleList, we shouldn't keep certain cosmetics for too long past an undisclosed "expiration" date, but really now, how much does it hurt to throw out a half-full tube of $42 mascara?

It hurts, friends. It hurts.

That's why for some certain things, it's just better to be a Drugstore Beauty Queen, and we're sharing the goods from our makeup bag to show you which specific things we like to pick up from the CVS on the corner. Check it out:

You know, The Body Shop makes a really nice tinted lip gloss thats only $4 or so. Its probably the longest lasting and least sticky of any I have ever tried.

I think it's deceiving that you lead-in with drug store finds and then most of the items are the expensive department store brands. There are cheap brands that work very well that could have been included here. Frankly, you disappoint and annoy me with this flimsy trick to sell the overpriced (sometimes superior) department store brands.

Okay, so if you're going to have an article that's supposed to be about drugstore makeup, make sure it's all from a drugstore!

I found this article quite upsetting really, because the writer lied to the readers about what the topic was really about, and it didn't seem to bother her a bit.

Next time, please, if you are going to write an article about DRUGSTORE makeup, don't go half and half with it. Write TWO stupid articles if you feel the need. I really dislike being interested in what seems would be a good article, to find that it was nothing but a piece of trash, that was half-assed.

Walgreens in this town of about 60,000 is very popular. The cosmetics variety is swell and the advisors on staff are more knowledgeable and quality conscience than the Estee and Clinique and Clarins advisors at local mall stores. I've used these products, and like them, but, recently I have found some of Walgreen's new beauty area products to be excellent on an older woman's face, and alot cheaper, too.
Try the new "Yes to Carrots" line... use several times - then notice the difference in your skin... also, try the latest in Revlon, Loreal, Coty, etc. Olay has products 10 to 15 dollars cheaper... and they work even better than the Clinique I used. Hooray Walgreens.

This article was totally misleading. $170 foundation? That has no place in a "drugstore diva" article. What drugstore is this writer shopping at? Besides the whole non-drugstore brand thing, the benefits of each chosen item was not even detailed. What a waste of time!

I second everyone here. Get off your butt and find a good drugstore foundation; do you really think $170 la praire is worth it. I dont.

Holy Crap! What drugstore did you find the $170 foundation at?!? An average foundation at the stores near me is 5-10 dollars. Crazy... Crazy... Crazy.

Only four out of 11 are actually from a drugstore? What a misleading article. Did those fancy brands pay you to dupe people into reading?

I am a drugstore queen. I love my Maybelline and cover girl products. NO need to spend dept store prices. I love Neutragena and all of this is available at Target.

I buy all products online through an online shopping mall and I have been saving between 5-55% on my
purchases at over 1100 stores online including Bare
Necessities, Sephora, Apple, The Gap, Target (great for soo much),
Macy's. I also wait for sales so I get my cash back and the lowest
price

I agree with Kathy the Sba from walgreens. walgreens has alot of make-up that is cheaper and made by the same companys people pay 100s of dollars for! L'Oreal , Jane, ect...... . Just make sure since your saving money at walgreens remember there is the buy and try program if your not happy with it RETURN IT . Always purchase your makeup at the cosmetics counter. They always have little goodies of samples! and maybe even coupons! Plus they get PM's . help them out! They go to meetings and get trained by real make up aritsts!

I bought Maybelline's Dream Matte Mousse in Ivory.......FAIL!!! I am having a hell of a time trying to find a new foundation since the one I used to use has been DISCONTINUED!!!! I believe it was Cover Girls Clean Look in Classic Ivory...in the squeeze bottle. I can't use the CG smoothers because they are way too pink for me. I have a lot of yellow in my skin. Help?

At the drugstore, Neutrogena has the most outrageous skin care line. The retinol with hylauronic acid (night creme for deep wrinkles) are ingredients found in products costing hundreds of dollars. Neutrogena is amazing. They also have a really good lip plumper that does what it claims - defines the lipline and smooths out lips and brings natural color back to lips. Neutrogena products are at drugstores like rite aid and duane reade, and cost about twenty dollars. I am a big fan!!!
