Last week the Wall Street Journal continued their groundbreaking coverage of shoes.

In this latest installment reporter Christina Binkley did a comparison of several expensive high heels that are purported to be "comfortable."

Ms. Binkley tried six different shoes, with heels that were about 3" and ranged in price from $89 to $495. Brands included Stuart Weitzman, the Cole Haans that have Nike technology in them, as well as Naturalizer, Aerosoles and Ecco.

The winner for Ms. Binkley, for both comfort and style was Taryn Rose, the Daphne model seen here for $495.

Shudder. If there is one universal truth, comfortable shoes are not pretty shoes. And pretty shoes are simply not comfortable. It is a mutually exclusive proposition, practically a law of physics, one with which we have learned to live. See the gallery for proof of these hideous, expensive, comfortable shoes.

We have to admit, if it came to spending our own money and actually wearing the shoes, we'd probably go for the comfortable ones. But if it's about shooting a spread in Vogue, bring on the crazy carved Prada heels!
