According to StyleList, bangs continue to be a hot trend, but how do you know if they're right for you? You could, of course, try out some fake bangs to get the look. But, if that's not for you, there are a few bang facts you need to know before you make the cut -- remember, it takes FOREVER to grow them out.

The main things to take into account before cutting bangs are your hair type, face shape, and the amount of effort you're willing to put into it.

Hair type: Obviously, curly hair and straight hair are going to look totally different when cut short. Keep this in mind when choosing the style of bangs you want. Styled correctly, long bangs can add texture and volume to fine hair, but they can also accentuate limp locks if left to air dry.

Face shape: For example, if you have a big forehead (like Tyra), long, straight bangs can help your face look a little more oval. But, if you have a short forehead, straight bangs will make your face look squashed. Instead, opt for side-swept bangs.

Effort: Will your bangs lie flat and perfectly every morning on their own? Not likely. You'll have to use products, styling tools, and you'll need to keep them trimmed up, especially if they are short or bluntly cut. If you're not willing to put the time into styling them and keeping them up, you might want to rethink your decision.
