Last month, we tipped Audrey Tautou to play Chanel in a new biopic of the French designer. Now we can confirm the rumors are true.

Tautou will play Chanel in a new movie to be called Coco avant Chanel (which means "Coco before Chanel" and which will focus on Coco's formative years, before she became known for her classic sense of style and her wonderful taste in smells). We didn't know much about the fashion legend's early life, but according to Variety, she learned to sew during her time in a Catholic orphanage after the death of her parents, and earned the nickname Coco after performing as a cabaret dancer - there's some perfect biopic material, right there.

Variety also reports that Tautou was (understandably, being the most famous hip and beautiful young Frenchwoman in Hollywood) the only choice for the role.

You know, there just keep being more and more reasons to have a girl crush on Tautou. First, she was an adorable little waiflet in the excellent Amelie (if you didn't love it, we can't be acquaintances, let alone friends). Then she made the move to Hollywood, and started showing up in mainstream films like The Da Vinci Code, as well as on red carpets looking groomed and gorgeous.

Now she's set to play one of the most iconic designers of all time. Forget the girl crush, perhaps it's envy we're feeling...

Either way, we predict a resurgence of interest in Chanel couture (not that it's ever stopped being popular, so it's more of a re-resurgence really) following this movie, and the two other films about Coco that are at the planning stages. Our advice? Stay ahead of the fash pack and break out your mannish suit and a pair of pearls, stat.
