Dunkin' Donuts pulls ad with Rachel Ray because she's dressed like a terrorist

Okay, the scarf itself might have bombed, but does anyone really think Rachel Ray could be a terrorist sympathizer? Apparently her wardrobe choice for a recent Dunkin' Donuts ad made people confused enough that the company decided to yank the ad.

Terrorist...or just tasteless?

  • Calm down, Rach -- you're scaring the dog
You see, she was wearing a scarf that resembled a keffiyeh, which is a traditional headdress worn by Arab men. While most people would probably just think that it was a poor fashion choice, others, like Fox News commentator Michelle Malkin, took it to another level, who ranted about it in her column and threatened a Dunkin Donuts boycott.

The scarf is a black-and-white silk scarf in a paisley design and was selected by a stylist -- Ray's rep swears no symbolism was intended. Gee, you think? If only Rachel Ray were a little less suspicious looking. You know, with more of a slightly annoying girl-next-door appeal ...

That is the height of ridiculous! I am beyond outraged! Michelle Malkin must be an idiot! She should be fired if she went on a rant about a woman wearing a scarf. Are we all going crazy? I can't believe Dunkin Donuts pulled a Rachael Ray ad over a flippin scarf! Not only are the terroists going to kill us all - before they do that they are going to decree what we can and cannot wear? I think perhaps Michelle Malkin should move to one of those countries where they are already doing that.

I'm just glad someone finally realized what a threat that woman is to national sanity, never mind security. It would have been better if they used the scarf as a muzzle.

Now to the important question: when, oh WHEN will we get a Dunkin Donuts in San Francisco?!?!

Oh No! Run for the hills! Rachel Ray is going to waterboard us with EVOO and drown us in her trash bowl. Watch out, Bush will be declaring war on her! I can hear it now, "We will not back down from the evil-doer, Rachel Ray...the axis of evil!"

Hi All: Please sign a petition to tell Dunkin Donuts we don't believe Rachel Ray's scarf is a terrorist symbol and that we're disappointed in their decision to pull their ad and capitulate to the hysterical fringe of the right-wing blogosphere: http://www.eztrackz.com/tracking.aspx?id=85106
Thanks!

Zebras wear black and white (stripes). Are they terrorists or terrorist supporters? Michelle Malkin needs to get a life and stop being so paranoid.

Wow!, I didn't know terrorists had a dress code. That would make them much easier to spot them on the street. Malkins needs to write up a "Where's Waldo" like handbook, so the rest of us can be as observant as her. If dunkin donut customers are that easy to be fooled why do they even need a spokes person? Just put up a sign that says "Mmmmmmm donuts, Dunkin Donuts, buy.....lots of them."
Also, if ranting about a women's accessory is note worthy news the editors aren't really paying much attention to what they consider news, or was it really just that slow of a news day they needed something, "anything" to fill space.

WOW.......I guess I'm "OUT OF THE LOOP"!!!!

All it looks to me is that R.R. is wearing a fringed scarf.

WHAT does that Michelle person see that I don't see????

Of all people to associate with terrorism..........
Rachael Ray just DRIPS in niceness, cuteness, perkyness, and she is sugar coated (although she
may be accused by some for being NAIVE)

This is just rediculous!I had a simular experience with a exchange student from France. She was told to take off her scarf or leave the establishment we were at. Her scarf was red and white.

I actually can't believe I am responding to this, I'm more of an Anthony Bourdain fan than Rachel Ray. I just bought a handful of similar scarves to send back to my family from Afghanistan. Most of the men here wear them, not just the terrorists. I would wear one as well, but we are not allowed to wear them in uniform. What an idiot. Some one did not investigate Afghan/Arab culture.
