A traditional Scottish turban?
Even if you don't know what a tartan is, you've seen one before. Tartans are those traditional plaid looking Scottish weaves that signify what clan you belong to -- kinda like a red bandanna signifies your belonging to the Bloodz -- except in kilt form. Anyway, the traditional garb is taking all sorts of new forms as the UK's immigrant population continues to explode. Now immigrants are finding a way to show their Scottish pride in a way that still represents their foreign roots. Tartan turbans, skull caps, are apparently cropping up alongside kilts and scarfs in stores. Not only that, but among the 2,000+ registered tartans, a growing number of them signify the different ethnic groups. Scotch Chinese, Poles, and Sikhs each have their own register tartan, and Scotland's Jewish community is in the process of creating one.
