Flip flops could mess up your feet
Yes! The sun is shining brightly, the temperatures are slowly rising, and those dark wash mini shorts that you've had buried in your closets all winter are finally going to see the light of day. But before you go get another reverse French pedicure and slide that favorite pair of Havaianas flip flops on your feet, you may want to heed this warning.
According to a study done by the Researchers at Auburn University in Alabama, the lovable thong sandals can throw off your stride and cause pain in your lower legs and feet. Ouch!
After watching 39 men and women walk on a super hi-tech platform wearing flip flops and sneakers, the researchers concluded: "When participants wore flip-flops, they took shorter strides and their heels hit the ground with less vertical force than when they wore their sneakers."
And you thought Uggs were the only shoes hazardous to your health.

This may be true of your basic plastic flip flop, but the Simple Toe Foo flip flop is totally different -- with layers of sole and shock absorption and even a padded arch support, these aren't your typical flip flop. They're made of natural fibers and super comfy -- I even managed to keep them on after accidentally flipping my kayak. They run about $50, but can be found on e bay and even at Ross on occasion.
