As if the budget-friendly Proenza Schouler bustiers and Jovovich-Hawk hippie dresses weren't enough, Target is now bringing its high/low aesthetic to the beauty aisle.Come August, the retailer will play host to "three masstige line versions of up-and-coming makeup artist lines."
Jemma Kidd, Napoleon Perdis and Petra Strand will craft more affordable and slightly different versions of their existing lines.
And much like your local Sephora store, Target will also have testers out so customers can play with the new blushes and lipsticks before they go in for the purchase.
On the new beauty initiative, a Target Corp. member says: "We understand that buying cosmetics is different than buying a top or sneakers. When you buy [beauty] there is that emotional investment. We understand and appreciate that and the [new beauty displays] will reflect that. We want to see guests walk in the section of the store and interact with the beauty brands. It gives them a chance to touch, smell and feel the brands."
Everyone knows the best beauty products are typically found at Drug stores and cost under $5, so we imagine these designer makeup lines will become as popular as Target's Go International juggernaut.
Now, if only someone would clue in the people who are still paying twenty bucks for mascara.
