Oscar de la Renta: Vogue approved

6/13/2008 1:33PM by Tiffany Neal

The August and September issues of Vogue magazine are some of the most highly regarded in the industry. The cover girls are almost always worthy and the spreads inside tend to be equally epic.

They are also legendarily filled to capacity with fashion ads.

So, to make sure his Fall '08 collection gets a chance to shine, designer Oscar de la Renta is running his ads, exclusively, in Vogue a month in advance of his competition.

The brand purchased a front-of-book spread in the fashion glossy that they're hoping will spark early customer interest in Oscar's fur coats and jeweled toned gowns:

"Our business is all about getting the early sales; our customer is all about newness. And if we can be there first, we will get those sales. When that July issue of Vogue drops, we're going to pick up some early fall selling that other brands may not. We'll see how it goes."

Meanwhile, the design icon just relaunched his website. It features videos, photos of each collection, and private pictures of Oscar when he was younger. If you have 10 minutes to kill, we promise it will be time well spent.
