The last time we removed the polish from our toenails and didn't have time to repaint them, we were horribly embarrassed. Not because we're so particular about having our toenails painted -- simply because we kept them painted so often that, when we took the polish off, our toenails were discolored! Eeewww!!! Fortunately, if your nails are stained yellow because you are never seen without dark nail polish, you're not out of luck -- you can get started by hitting up the produce aisle.

Rubbing a lemon or lime wedge on your nails might do the trick. Or, cut the fruit in half, loosen it up, and stick your nails inside -- the juice acts as a mild bleach.

You could also try the five steps outlined here, but your fingers won't smell quite as lemony-fresh as using actual fruit!
