Nerd jewelry: the comma necklace
Great news for fans of punctuation! It seems that all kinds of nerdy symbols -- no matter how esoteric or boring -- are being immortalized in the form of novelty jewelry these days. We don't know why, but we think it has something to do with the fact that people want their jewelry to mean something. For scientists: it's periodic table rings, for computer geeks: Kenneth Cole emoticon cuff links, for bloggers: the comma necklace. It's nice to finally see the short pause getting some respect. It's hard to imagine very many people wanting a comma pendant, and that's probably why it seems cool to the tiny percentage of people who identify with punctuation marks. The comma pendant is cool in theory, but really, we're bigger fans of the Em dash. Anyhow, it's not exactly the most fashionable piece we've seen lately, but it's semi-meaningful. Maybe it'd be a good gift for an English teacher. At least it's small enough to be subtle.

I'd like a possessive apostrophe necklace to give my wife so she knows she's mine ;-)
