If there is one thing we can all use, it's help getting organized. We recently attended a presentation by professional organizer, Donna Smallin. Staples sponsored the talk in connection with their fun new line of office supplies, called M by Staples. The idea is that cool file folders, clips and notebooks will help motivate you to get and stay organized, both at home and in the office. Since we are crazy for office supplies and paper products, that made sense to us. Our favorite tips was to always have a notebook on hand so you can jot down ideas and reminders. Yay, a reason to buy another notebook!

We want to help one of our lucky readers get a jump start on organizing, so we're giving away one copy of Donna's book, The One Minute Organizer Plain and Simple along with a super cute, hot pink patent leather M by Staples notebook.
  • To enter, leave a confirmed comment with your favorite organizing tip.
  • The comment must be left before 5pm EST on Friday, June 27th.
  • You may enter only once.
  • One winner will be selected in a random drawing.
  • The winner will receive both the The One Minute Organizer Plain and Simple and a pink patent leather M by Staples notebook (valued at $9.95 and $14.99, respectively).
  • Open to legal residents of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia and Canada (excluding Quebec) who are 18 and older.
Click here for complete Official Rules.

My favorite organization tip is to print out a monthly calendar, then color code each bill payment/due date, appointment, etc etc and post somewhere you can easily see.

I use red for bills, blue for pay checks, orange for dog appointments, and pink/green/black for my own appointments. Its easy to look at the calendar and see "AMEX Due" in red and not forget to pay my credit card bill!

My organizational tip is to always have sticky notes on hand. jot down web addresses and notes down and stick them to anything available at the time and when you sit down for a few minutes each day...write all of those notes to a pad or notebook to keep yourself on track with daily doings and so forth.

I use a storage ottoman to store some of my child's toys & knick-knacks. it makes the family room more cohesive and doesn't scream, "toy chest".

My organizational tip is to always keep a running list on my fridge of items we run out of and to write it down right away when I notice. Thank you for the giveaway!

I have smaller "plastic" containers inside my drawers to make organization easier. In my kitchen I have "plastic" utensils, "metal" utensils, "sharp" utensils separated. Makes it easier to grab the right tool for the job!

My best working organization tip is to put things away right when you finish using them. Then the item is always found quickly when you need it again~must have:filing cabinet, a calender that is big enough to plainly see what is written on it. Oh, it's great to paint/embellish your filing cabinet and use fun colourful folders and such.

I use perfume/cologne boxes to store my pens and pencils next to my phone. Cut off just alittle around the box so you don't have to dig the pens and pencils out.

I text to-dos/thoughts/ideas/calendar events to my e-mail so I won't forget them. I don't always have a pen and paper to write stuff down but my celly never leaves my side!
Oh, and I'll throw in a 'bonus' organizing tip just for giggles. One word: IKEA! (If you haven't been, you haven't lived.)

Well I'm kind of old-fashioned: I use To Do lists, and I try to write the things in the order I need to finish them. Then, I just cross them off the list. It works for me! :)

I bought five small plastic tubs ( 2' by 1' ) to organize the stuff in my bathroom that isnt being used daily..I did one for my daughters toiletries, medicines and hair products, one for all my hair products, one for general first aid and medicines, one for skin treatments like lotion, sunscreen etc.. and one for hair tools like brushes and barrets. Now I dont have to dig through everything..definite time saver.

The constant influx through snail mail is my organizational struggle. I try to sort it immediately with bills going their location, magazines to their stand, advertising into the recycle bin and some items shredded or put into the "circular file".

I choose just one different drawer or shelf each week to sort, throw away the junk or put items in a better place in the house. That way I am not overwhelmed and don't tend to put it off.
