We love all of the amazing independent designers out there. In order to find out more about just what makes all of these creative types tick, we present to you an ongoing segment called Indie Designer Interviews.

Today's interview is with sisters Angela and Shelley who design jewelry together under the name AngieShel Designs.

Tell us a little about yourself and your work. We are sisters who started a jewelry-designing business. Our names are Angela and Shelley. The name of our company is AngieShel Designs, LLC. We offer a diverse selection of handmade fashion jewelry for all occasions in a variety of colors.

How did you get started designing jewelry? Well, it's kind of funny how we got started. One day, we were shopping for lawn furniture. We discovered that the store had an arts and crafts section that included beads and beading supplies. So, we bought some beads and supplies to repair jewelry that we had bought in the past. Soon after that, beading became an enjoyable hobby for us, and we began to make jewelry for ourselves. Later, we started making jewelry as gifts for family and friends. After getting many compliments and lots of encouragement to turn our hobby into a business, we decided to take all of the necessary steps to do that.

Any advice you would give to aspiring designers? Do your research to find out the legal steps you need to take to turn your hobby into a business. Don't let your fears, discouragement or negativity from others who may be afraid to pursue their dreams, or who may doubt that you can be successful, cause you to give up on pursuing your dream and sharing your talent with others. Also, believe in yourself, and love what you do.

What inspires your work? Love of arts and crafts, fashion, and colors motivate us.

What are your top fashion & beauty must haves? Well, first of all, as jewelry designers, we must put jewelry at the top of our list. We also like handbags and shoes and all types of cosmetics.

Anything else? We do custom designs. We offer customers discounts and even free jewelry by hosting an e-party. Also, we make men's jewelry, children's jewelry and other specialty items, such as hair accessories. We often add new items to our site so that our customers will enjoy coming back to "shop."
