Bonobos: Pants for real guys as sold by ninjas

real guy
Noun
1. informal a man or boy
2. a man that doesn't fit into sizes designed for skinny teens or runway models, nor wants to; enjoys sports

Are you, or do you know, a real guy? If so, you most likely understand the frustration involved in finding stylish pants that fit. Even tougher is finding stylish pants that fit at an affordable price. It ain't easy.

Brian Spaly felt this pain, too. In fact, it bothered him so much that he decided to do something about it. He started making his own pants. He started making his own AWESOME pants.

Brian started to create pants for real guys. He developed a curved waist band to better accommodate the body, "a slight bootcut to flatter the figure, and less fabric in the thighs so they weren't so baggy and boxy."

Other real guys noticed. He started selling the pants out of his trunk to fellow college students and soon had professors investing in his promise. Bonobos was born.

We had the pleasure of speaking with Brian recently and he was as passionate and excited about the pants now as he was the day he created them.

Bonobos are hand made in New York and San Francisco. They use the highest quality materials available, which includes organic when possible.

However, despite buying high-end fabrics Bonobos is able to keep prices down, this is due to conducting sales via the Internet (and occasional car trunk). There is no overhead to maintain retail fronts. Shopping is at your fingertips and not your mall, which is something else that real guys tend to appreciate- less mall time. There are special discounts available under the Band of Brothers program for men that serve the community in our most important, yet underpaid jobs: military, teachers, police, nurses, firemen, etc.- you know who you are.

So where do the ninjas come in? The ninjas are what they call their customer service department, which is basically everyone from Brian to the CEO Andy Dunn to the people in the shipping department. Everyone is customer service and customer service is everyone (just made that up- awesome, right?). Everyone is a ninja.

These are not your Chuck Norris' ninjas. These ninjas are everywhere as you would expect, and they are quick and flexible, but their skills are in making you happy, not beating you upside the head with nunchucks. They aren't interested in fighting Chuck Norris (who is?), but they could get him in a great pair of pants.

Brian reiterated the fact that Bonobos (yes, named after the peaceful and loving chimp) were created to fill the void that existed in a world of tight pants, too much denim, boxy frump and unaffordable prices. He and the ninjas strive to create pants that they like. It's that simple. Consider the void filled.

Thank God someone gets it. BRAVO!! I never want to see another pair of skinny jeans on men again but sadly since I live in NYC this dream won't happen for awhile.
