It turns out Motorola is serious about helping multitaskers avoid mishaps. They provided us with this (surprisingly pretty) hands-free Bluetooth headset for a giveaway so that one of our lucky readers can try it out, and hopefully become a better multitasker. Or at least not drop your phone as much!

This cool kit includes: the headset, a charging case, a carrying pouch and two ear cushions and looks just the picture, we promise.
We like how this headset is almost like jewelry, with a cool swirly design instead of being all electronic and black plastic, like something something a weird cyborg dude would use. Apologies to any weird cyborg dudes who were planning on entering the contest and now have hurt feelings.

Interested? Follow these directions and maybe the lucky winner will be you!
  • To enter, leave a confirmed comment with your funniest phone mishap.
  • The comment must be left before 5pm EST on Friday, July 11th.
  • You may enter only once.
  • One winner will be selected in a random drawing.
  • The winner will receive one Motorola Bluetooth headset, model H680 (valued at $79.99.)
  • Open to legal residents of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia and Canada (excluding Quebec) who are 18 and older.
Click here for complete Official Rules.

I dropped my phone in the toilet, but I wasn't even using the toilet - I was just trying to clean up the bathroom a little before some guests arrived.

I had just bought my first (prepaid) phone and had to go to court for an issue that had to be resolved with my baby girl (long story on that)...I didn't know at the time how to turn it on/off. Well, just as the Judge was going to speak the phone started ringing and everyone looked at me. I frantically tried to turn it off (since they said before you go into the courtroom you have to turn Cell phones off). I said I was sorry many times and hoped that this mishap would not reflect the case. Needless to say, they were very understanding and went on with the proceedings as usual and I have since learned how to turn the phone on and off when needed.

I am proud to say that I have never had any mishaps with my phones. Yhe very first phone I got seven years ago still works! (I still have it somewhere.) So in lieu of sharing one of my own mishaps, I'll share one of my brother's. He brought his phone to the beach and got sand in it (why he didn't bring a plastic baggy to put it in, I don't know) and when he brought it back home, it no longer worked. It was really annoying at the time but in retrospect, it's quite funny.

I was talking on the phone and I went to switch the laundry room light of and it is an old fashioned pull string switch that was installed over 100 years ago and evidently there was a fault in it and when I did I got electrocuted something wicked. It fried my phone battery not to mention it hurt like the dickens~! I also dropped my cell into a cup of coffee on my travel to work however after 3 days the phone did dry out and worked all but a function button so I continued to use it for another year. I'm hard on phones lol

I was driving in my car with a friend and I was telling her about a conversation I had earlier that day when I saw my ex-boyfriend. I got a call from my ex a few minutes later and he told me that he heard the entire conversation because my phone had accidently dialed the last person I talked to on the phone, which just happened to be him. I had never before been embarrased by anything that happened to me in front of him until that happened.

This is a beautiful headset :) I'm not sure how funny it is, but last weekend someone called with a wrong number. We played hello tag five times and I anticipate it could've lasted forever. Finally, I sad "you called this number, who are you looking for?" Duh ~ what's up with some people?!? *Thanks* for the giveaway!

I was in a meeting with my advisor and i put my phone on silent and put it in my pocket. not realizing that it was ringing, it automatically clicked on answer and then after a few seconds, hit speakerphone. you could literally hear a pin drop in the meeting and then the next thing you knew, you hear the person on the phone screaming my name! my advisor and i were looking around confused.. and then my advisor was like umm, i think its your phone.

very embarrassing

While I was cussing at the phone because it wasn't doing what I was trying to get it to do, a potential employer called and heard everything I said. I'm not much of a cusser and I was very embarrassed. Not to mention I didn't get the job either.

The funniest but not to terribly embarrasing thing that has happened was with my first blue tooth ear piece. I have rather long hair and was wearing it down on the particular day. I was shopping with a friend in a mall when I received a phone call. So I sat on a bench in the middle of the mall talking on the phone....using my ear piece of course! Well this guy decides that it is really funny watching this girl sitting on a bench talking to herself so he decides to mimick me and starts talking to himself and pretending to carry on a conversation. I showed him the earpiece but he kept right on making fun. By the time it was all done I was laughing so hard I had to end my telephone call. :)

My ringtone for my husband is "I touch myself" by the Divinyls. At the time we had a friend and her hearing impaired son living with us. I left my phone on the kitchen counter during a visit from the child's case worker. In the middle of her asking about the living arrangements and stability of the home, my husband called sending "I touch myself" all through the house! Luckily, the case worker had a good sense of humor!

I dropped my phone in a mud puddle and of course it immediately stopped working...I was a long ways from home, so I ran into a thrift store that was nearby, plugged in a hair dryer and starting drying my phone out...it worked!!! took a little while, but it worked!

Well I guess this could qualify as a phone mishap. I tried to answer the remote control once and until the the phone stopped ringing I was convinced I was holding a broken phone. It was the middle of the night by the way!

The only funny phone incident I had is I was talking to my sister and telling her a story about work when I realized the phone was dead. Come to find out I was talking for a full 5 minutes before it dawned on me it wasn't working.

When I was in my teens, I called my closest friend b/c I wanted to get her advice about some really private stuff. After a couple of minutes, I realized I wasn't talking to my friend, but to her mom. Awkward.

Once in awhile someone will be talking while using the toilet, not realizing (or maybe not caring) that whatever they're doing can be heard on my end. The other day I was in the restroom at Yogaworks when a friend of mine who is a lawyer got a business call while she was seated in the stall. I had to remind her *Janet, whatever you do, for god's sake don't pee while you're on the phone.*

BTW I'm constantly losing my Bluetooth. Now I just keep an extra one on hand.
