What's your idea size? Are you trying to cram into a size 12, or starving yourself into sizes only models can wear? If you're like most women surveyed by the UK's Fabulous Mag, your preferred size is probably a six.

Too bad most men don't agree.

In fact, at least according to the survey, most men's ideal woman is a curvier size 10. For reference, the woman on the right in the above photo is a size 12, the woman in the middle is a size six, and the woman on the left is the (apparently ideal) size 10**.

So maybe it's not worth freaking out the next time you point on a couple pounds. Just sayin'.

What's your ideal size?
Size 4 or lower5033 (20.5%)
Size 64879 (19.8%)
Size 85394 (21.9%)
Size 103999 (16.3%)
Size 123153 (12.8%)
Size 14 or higher2149 (8.7%)

**Word to the wise: UK sizes and US sizes are different. Fabulous Magazine lists the ideal size as a UK size 12 which, according to most conversion charts is a US size 10. But we spent a little time in the UK, and it's worth noting that these size discrepancies can vary -- so while sometimes a UK size 12 is a US size 10, sometimes it's a US size 6, or once in awhile even a 4.

Wasn't Marilyn Monroe size 14? And women prefer 6' and men with a full head of hair....

Marilyn Monroe was a large size. But sizes have changed since then. Her waist measurement was still 26", which is about a size 2 today.

ONLY 6"??!!! Terry, speak for yourself! I prefer 8", but girth matters more than length. Anything less is just a damn waste of time

JJoanie...I said 6 foot tall, but again my mother always told me it's not how tall a man is as long as you can "look up to him". I'm 5'7" and have dated men 5'3" and 6'7". It's not about size, it's about "pride in ourself" that projects attractiveness.

Marilyn's weight flunctuated quite a bit -- plus sizes have gotten "bigger" today than in her day -- in today's size she went back and forth from something like size 4 to size 10. She was definitely NOT today's size 14 at any time. It's a popular myth that the "bigger girls" today like to believe in though, but sorry girls -- not this time!

At my age I prefer a man with clean teeth, even if their false, that can remember my name from day to day. Being able to drive at night is a plus. LOL

8, 10, 12 what? Women's sizes are so screwy. Someone who many normally wear a size 10 pants, many wear either a 8, 10 or 12 dress depending on the size of their chest and the cut of the skirt. I myself have 3 different sizes hanging in my closet and they all fit perfectly.

I wish anyone who wants to write accurately about women's sizes would quantify it with what they are sizing, pants, blouses or dresses.

It's because of the same reason Marilyn Monroe wore a size 14. Sizes have steadily gotten bigger while the number stayed the same, to make women feel better. Manufacturers realize that they can get a woman to prefer their brand if women can claim to wear a smaller size. It's why you wore a size 8 during the 1980s, gained 45 pounds, and still wear a size 8 today. Marilyn was no size 14 of today, sorry to say.

Good point about the different clothing. I wear the same in all but many women do not.

Also I can wear two sizes smaller in Ralph Lauren than in the cheaper brands.

It's not so much about whether it's size 10 in pants or a skirt, it's the fact that men don't care about women being skinny. It's women who are obsessed with starving themselves into a size 2...or who compare themselves to the size 2 starvers and feel bad about their size 10 body...

not all women who are a size two are starvers. and its arrogant of you to assume they (WE) all are.

I am a woman. Speaking of men, I would prefer 12, would be happy with 8, and as luck would have it, mine only has 7.

Anything over a size 4 is just way too big. I like my ladies tall and thin. Sorry...that's just the way it is. America has too much obesity and all too often hides behind "curves" or "that's just the way I am".
