Enjoy a (week) day spa treatment

There is something old school and luxurious about sitting by a pool, wrapped in a white terry cloth robe, sipping cucumber water and waiting to be called for your massage. However, those day spas can be pricey, and with everyone tightening their belts, this is the kind of luxury most of us give up first. You know, before food and gas.
But wait! Before you turn away from the dream of lavender scented lotion and gentle, soothing hands, consider scheduling your beauty treatment on a Tuesday afternoon or Thursday morning.
Many spas have a lower price scale for these less busy days of the week, making a half day of relaxation more affordable than you'd think. Scheduling is easier during the week, too. Where most spas book up quickly on Saturday and Sunday, you'll have your choice of times earlier in the week. And as an added benefit, you'll likely find that special requests, like for a male or female specialist, is easier to get fulfilled on these slower days.
Also, sign up for emails from your favorite spa. Often they will send out insider notices about deals and last minute specials. If you can dash away from the office an hour early, you might be able to save $20, $40 or even more on a facial.
It's just as important -- perhaps even more so -- to take care of yourself during stressful times. With a little flexibility, you can still live like the rich and famous, even when your bank account is more coupons and working overtime.
